it sounds like he's just swearing because he's used to it, not because he meant any ill towards the game.

He might just be tired of kids thinking they're good at guitar because they're good at the game though. He said he liked the music game genre more than other genres though.

Shame some musicians get all uppity over this kind of stuff while other musicians embrace it for what it does. Heck these games helped bring a lot of these songs back into popularity.

Best thing guitar hero/rock band will teach people is coordination and timing. It will not teach them how to finger a real guitar(lol).

I love guitar and play everyday and while I'm not a fan of guitar hero I do appreciate that it gets kids into more music than they are use to listening to. My wife got rock band for when we hang out with our friends and I was shocked at how many awesome songs that were in the game. So, while it may not make them better guitar players, listening to hendrix or Zep or Stevie may light a fire under there ass to go get a guitar and play. I know it was them that did it for me and not oasis lol.

Congratulations, you're best song rips off the opening of Imagine and includes lines that someone stole from Lennon's apartment. Although I do agree that kids should try guitar and other instruments for fun. If you're not the best you shouldn't give up guitar. There is no final level.

He isn't ripping guitar hero, he is ripping people who equate playing a videogame to the actual playing of a real guitar.

In much the same way that SKATE has you replicate some of the basic leg action of skateboarding but doesn't mean you can go out and instantly rock at skateboarding.

I skated for 12+ years and love SKATE and think that great games like guitar hero/rock band and SKATE are always positive promotion for the real life passions that the games portray. I have also played/collect guitar for 15+ years, never played rock band or guitar hero but really respect that everyone can, even in a small way, experience the rush of playing songs they love on a "instrument"!

Simply saying "Oasis suck" or any band/singer/whatever is a silly statement to make. They don't suck, they simply don't like them as it isn't their preference.

That was kind of a between the lines underlying point when saying it was a 360 fan impression because you know how they are, sales determine quality in their world, rather than being subjective over what is and isn't a quality game/product/whatever. I'd include PS3 fanboys in there too but apparently anything PS3 related doesn't sell well so they can't say the same thing.

Oasis first 3 albums were fairly good. Morning Glory is right up there with Actung Baby and The Bends for me.

I love when time and effort is put into a video game. But you gotta look at it this way...Guitar Hero and Rock Band are just simple games. How complex can you really get with it? If you wanted complexity in a music game, you might as well get the real instrument.

I think the developers secretly want to make these games to show non-musicians how it feel to rock out and have a good time with music.

Plus honestly, if it wasnt for games like GH and RB, alot of people wouldnt hear most of the bands that are on there. I can vouch, I never listened to classic rock, but thanks to those games I've started listening to a few Blue Oyster Cult songs, along with alot of indie bands that Rock Band brings into the game.

To make a long post short, these are simple games meant to bring fun and music to the masses, nothing more or less.

Yeah I see your point.

They're not for me, obviously, but I understand why loads of people love them.

They are simple games, you are right, and that's why I can't put them in the same league as most other genres. It's like flash games - they're fun, and some are really good, but they'll never stand up to big-budget releases.

Only thing is you're having to spend a bomb just to get all the peripherals for these games, whereas flash games are free, and every other game I can play with a regular controller.

I honestly think they are better suited to the arcade/pub setting than home console.

And yeah, about BÖC, get their first album. It's awesome :)

Dude, I play guitar and sing in a band. Playing Rockband/GH is nowhere near the real guitar experience, agreed. But why is a musician like this going crazy over something that isn't meant to replace the real guitar?

I don't get that. Furthermore, the drums in RB/GH are most close to the real deal. I have the GHWT super bundle and its fun. But playing real guitar is much more satisfying. GH/RB is for fun!
