GamePro writes: "An enormous fan of the past installments in the Persona franchise, I'll be the first to admit that I was a tad skeptical when I heard that Persona 4 was dropping as soon as the end of 2008. Wrapping up my fourth run-through of Persona 3: FES, I was starting to feel like there wasn't anything else the series could throw at me that I hadn't seen before - and certainly not in such a short time span With the announcement that P4 would also be releasing on the Playstation 2, I couldn't help but worry; would this just be Persona 3 with a fresh coat of paint and a new cast of cookie-cutter characters? I'm happy to report that while Persona 4 does hold quite a few similarities to its predecessor, it proves itself as a brand new experience from the ground up with unprecedented levels of innovation, character, and outright charisma. Persona 4 may very well prove to be the shot in the arm that the RPG genre is in such dire need of."

The 20GB and 60GB PS3's are compatible with nearly all PS2 games, it should play on your 60GB PS3 with no problems.

Should have jumped on the $99 Lego Batman PS2 bundle at amazon on Black Friday. Though I have a 60GB PS3, I still like the original (without upscaling and smoothing) visuals on a PS2 through component cables.

I think that the PS2 will go down in history as "The Console King of JRPG's/RPG's because there's just so many quality RPG's on the PS2 it's just ridiculous.

It's sad to see that so many Japanese developers not being able to keep up with this generation of advanced systems because Persona 4 would have made for a very good PS3 JRPG.

It's nice to see developers squeezing every last bit out of the PS2.

I think Atlus made a smart decision in making P4 for the PS2 instead of PS3...

The PS2 install base is just massive and it keeps growing..and thats where the fanbase for Perosna Franchise is...not to mention Atlus is a small dev house..so it's cheaper to make a PS2 game.

Can't wait...I pre-ordered this game like..3 months ago...lol

8 - do you have two play the other 3 to get this one?
i remember playing a shing megami tensei game, i think it was nocturne, and i couldnt get into it, not one bit, i rented it from game fly and sent it right back, and my favorite genre is jrpgs ><, I havent played an good jrpg since technically FF CC, but on a console it would have to be xenosaga ep 3... and that was a while back....

11 - I lot of people forget...
Despite all the hype and focus on the "next gen" consoles, the PS2 is still selling and still routinely landing games in the top 10 in sales. Hell, last year one of the best games of the year was Gears of War 2. It put a helluva lot of those so-called "next gen" games to shame.

Damn, and no official announcement from Atlus for Europe, although there are signs that point that P4 will come here.

I hope the fights are as challenging as P3Fes.
