GamePro: Need for Speed Undercover Review

GamePro writes: "Friends don't let friends play Need for Speed: Undercover. Mediocre racing and tacky styling leave it stuck in neutral, gunning its engine while going absolutely nowhere. While a long campaign mode and intriguing new experience system get the pistons pumping, everything grinds to a halt when the rubber hits the road in the worst installment of the series in recent memory. It's the video game equivalent of test driving a brand new Lamborghini only to have the engine overheat and the tires go flat as soon as you get on the freeway. Too bad the gaming equivalent of AAA doesn't exist; that way, if you're unlucky enough to buy this game, you could get a little roadside assistance".

i really didn't see this coming!! i actually thought this game would do a lot better but the driving mechanics did look kinda bad they should really use the nfs carbon engine for driving ! but the game looked nice guess i have to wait for more reviews to see if 2.5/5 is the right review!!! still thinkin about buying this REPLY TO THIS COMMENT IF I SHOULD BUY THIS GAME OR NOT!!!!

If you can't make up your mind about it - why wouldn't you just rent it instead? It's pretty random to let other people on the internet decide whether you should buy a game or not.

I know i'm renting it before im buying it atleast. I love NFS games, but ProStreet and Carbon were slightly disappointing I think. Im giving Undercover a try though.

I think reviewers are having fun giving low scores this year to games. Its happened way too much this year undeservingly. Not saying that this game doesn't deserve the score it got but I loved all the NFS's to some degree or another. I wouldn't classify any of them as terrible. I've had this game preordered for a while now and can't wait to try it out. I'm sure it will deliver to my satisfaction.... as for you, I have no idea.

1.5 - totally unexpected
I saw 1 review of 6.5/10 this morning and now this? I think there must be a real problem with this new NFS but seriously, 1 new NFS every year is not going to make the series even better, EA! why can't you make it like Burnout? this is no FIFA, no Madden! you can only improve so much for only a year for a racing game! Underground 2 and Most Wanted were awesome but ProStreet was a huge let down!! seriously, EA needs to stop ruining this franchise!

how about a review that gives actual info on why they scored it the way they did instead of rambling on with some metaphors on how it sucks. serioulsy if u are going to review a game give us some facts and more info other than "this game is like a 1 legged dog with gang green..." cause that is useless

They just need to stop making yearly renditions of the need for speed serious. After Underground I've completely lost track of the titles. Most Wanted, Carbon, Pro Street and now this Undercover.

Underground was fun and I don't think they've been good since then.

have not played a good NFS since underground before that high stakes and hotpursuit 2 which Im playing right now as I speak.....EA come on now get off your high horse in 09 with hotpursuit 3 or

8 - i don't trust this review
for one the guy never says why the driving is bad, he just makes up bad metaphors for it and two, he rambles on about nothing for nearly the whole review, EPIC FAIL of a review, in fact after reading the review i actually want to play it to see if he has any sense in him.

I agree 100% hope 2009 NFS will not be another copy of the fast and furious 3 which is coming out in 09 hey EA why not make hotpursuit 3
or high stakes 2 for ps3 that would be a great improvement. both with cops, 2 helicopters with missiles,cops rhino suv

that way old school NFS gamers and next gen. gamers will all be much happier

I can see why the NFS series took the direction it did,after underground(which was a huge success)they just took that idea and are even with this game dripping every last dollar out of the concept.Im sick of it.
We get it your a new guy from another city making the "black list" and rival cars want to race.......yea we get it.

1.Bring me a NFS with with a number on the end of it first off.No more NFS"insert urban vigilante word"

2.Next since Forza and Gran Turismo are taking the cake and eating it too with the realism,up the car models and environments.

3.No more open world.We are getting sick of it,stick with the old gameplay which was "pick a stage,race that stage"

4.If your going to go customizable.Dont use made up styles.Go real world styles.You want a 350z with a JDM package from the JGTC?we got that package.want a Blitz package,got that too.Dont give me a front spoiler that you made up in 5 minutes and doesnt look true to the original car concept."Oh look my 350z looks like a Corvette now,perfect".NO!

5.Most importantly bring back the old true to form NFS gameplay on Playstation.Bring back the we race ultra exotics(sorry no VW Golfs in this game,remember when the least favorite car was a Corvette,Jag,or Italdesign Cala?) around closed circuits and if we get to ahead cops try to get us.Also for crying out load since Gran Turismo is doing real tracks........

DONT DO THAT.create your own tracks that could happen but are not real tracks.Yea remember NFS 3?remember the stage where your in a town thats hilly and the entire track was covered by orange fallen maple leafs?beautiful yet challenging.

Some wont agree to this but for me NFS died after the ps2 and xbox came out.All the good ones were for the psone.

I agree NFS died after Underground 2. ProStreet wasn't bad but the other games were far below decent.

Underground 3 would be great, and instead of having the Lambo's and other exotics bring back the Pegeout's and Honda's and get rid of the exotics.
