Nothing to do with Sony or Microsoft, it's Activision's pricing.

1.3 - I would
Think that it's activisions pricing based on the Microsoft Point System.

Agreed. This title is pretty irresponsible. If we knew the 'why' of it, maybe then we could start pointing some fingers. Right now, it's just a curious decision by a publisher and pretty sucky for PS3 owners in Australia.

What about the rest of the world?

Well one would think Sony would be on top of these type things but to early to point fingers.

1.6 - its little things like this that add up
PS3 multiplats costing more
DLC costing more
$100 for a DS3
$700 for a console

Sony is making it real hard to support the PS3 in Aus.

It's not like it matters anyway. There's about 3 songs a month for GH DLC.

2 - Editorials are getting dumb nowadays
How is Sony "handing" an advantage to MS?

Activision sets the prices as far as I remember (I could be wrong).

2.1 - Well that is the big 'if' isn't it
Who and why? Some behind the scenes dealings that we will probably never be privy too.

Whether or not Sony is handing an advanatage across or whether X360 is just gaining one, the point still stands. Heaps cheper to buy the X360 version in the long-run.

2.2 - thing that makes me laugh
accordin to that study on here a week or 2 ago about exclusive downloadable content nobody realises it much so when microsoft does a deal for DLC it isnt makin big enough effects especially if the DLC cost u and is not free of charge. however stealin the game does.

Haha. I have no idea what your comment means, but I'm curious as to why anyone would disagree.

Why are we trying to make rhyme or reason of Australian pricing? It has never made sense.

5 - This is how it is because
Sony and psn use real money. Dollars, cash, Euros, whatever your country uses, the Psn will most likely accept it.

Microsoft on the other hand, uses Microsoft Points. Which is converted from lets say, 500 microsoft points for what? 10 dollars?

Microsoft points may be cheaper for things such as guitar hero songs or rock band songs.

5.1 - 800 points
Is ten dollars. Less if you buy the point card online.

Does everyone still care about Guitar Hero?

Personally, after GH3 and Rock Band, I had my fill of the ridiculous "pseudo-musician" games. The only reason all of these artists are leaping on to support Guitar Hero is because they found a new way to help stop the leak in their wallets from everyone stealing their music.

You buy a track, Sony and MS get a cut, Activision gets a cut, and the artist/record label gets a cut. Not sure about dividing a few dollars between those people, but after a couple hundred thousand sales, you got a decent chunk of change to go around.

I'm hoping this is a fad and goes away after a while. For the price of the GH World Tour set, I could pick up a real guitar and maybe a lesson or two.

6.1 - i agree full heartedly with you...
nothing beats a real guitar. I have finally played rock band though, and it is fun. After about an hour though, the game does become dull. How all these youtube videos get up of people playing the game and garnering praise ever became cool is beyond me. The fact remains that the games are fun, but how many times can they keep coming out with the same game. I think that they should just let all future songs be DLC

Im sorry but it is like sony wants to prove that they are still top to me. They just hand over so much and still are kings in my book. Almost like they give the enemy the guns to fight the war knowing that they are still going to win. (this is my opinion).. Just look at it.. and im not saying that this here is big at all. But look at everything they have lost. OK OK i know they are not handing it over because that would be ridiculous. But its funny why Microsoft is not omg so ahead.

9 - Maybe its the network
Some of that extra cost may be due to paying for hosting and download bandwidth on sony's free network. Microsoft is already being subsidized by income from xbox live's pay service. Just a thought.

It's because they already pay for xbox live in the first place... Duh!
