Star Wars The Force Unleashed: What Went Wrong

A Star Wars yuppie is defined by the following characteristics:

1) He is one who believes that George Lucas should have never made the prequels in the Star Wars universe.

2) The Empire Strikes Back is by far the greatest science-fiction fantasy movie ever crafted in human history.

3) The Jedi are too good to actually survive in this topsy turvy universe, the Sith is the true nature of the Force.

4) He'd wish George Lucas would have made a movie rather than a game for "The Force Unleashed".

The wii versions controlls where great. There was a slight camera issue though. I want the option to play in first person or 3rd.

2.2 - The Control Are Fine
I actually thought the controls were well done. All the buttons and movements feel very natural to me. PS3 version.

They focussed to much on promoting the engines, but not really trying to make a great game overall...
Atleast if i were to go by the negative stuff i hear about it...
still need to play it my self though.

6 - What went wrong?
I'll tell you: reviewers tried to bury this game, but fans bought it anyway and ended up liking it. Whoops!

Now the reviewers' feelings are hurt, so they write pouty articles about what went wrong. It's all a rich tapestry.

I think that game is pretty great. I didn't expect much, but after a bit of a sneaking into it, I realized it was 2 in the morning when I had to stop playing.

This is a perfect example of wrong perception from reviewers. It is what it is. Its greatly implemented, the physics works awesome in the game. The visuals are great, too. You need to constant upgrade your combos if you want to succeed.

But what I was surprised by the story. It really filled a gap between the 3 & 4th movie. I can understand why someone would say this should have been a movie.

So in short, this game goes the way of so many others being totally underrated and given the usually "hard core penalty".

To sum it up for me " a few annoying and frustrating moments in a generally excellent game " for me it goes down as underrated.

7.1 - Agree With 6,7,8
Great game. It fell short in a few areas but overall was a very fun experience. Throwing stormtroopers around never gets old not to mention all the other powers. Great tie-in with the story as well. Solid game for me.

10 - I don't know, I liked Haze, and I liked this game
Heck, I even liked Lair with the motion control instead of using the analog update. The only part of this game that dissapointed me was two fold, first, the big one, no trophies on the PS3 version, and game wise, I hated bringing down the star destroyer with force powers. Gosh that was frustrating. Other than that, I like "The Force Unleashed".

I would have given the game an 8 but the Star Destroyer sequence dropped it to a 7.5. Quick time events do need to die.

Did anyone else love the bounty hunter game as much as I did?

That was an excellent Star Wars game.

Maybe it was just the jet pack..

I enjoyed the game overall

Me likes:
The story was actually better than the prequels and Clone Wars movie
The character has a different costume for each level
Graphically better than what I was expecting
Nice upgrade system
Lots of extras and unlockables
Multiple difficulties

Problems:
Jaggies and tearing
Revisiting a lot of the same areas
Worlds are very intricate but everything is the same color or dark hues. I found it a little disorienting
Targeting system and camera need work
Lack of enemy types
Although a pretty good combat system, it's a little lackluster in presentation

Tearing ? Hm, actually I was quite impressed how smooth it ran with all that stuff going on. In some of the levels, like that trash planet, you have so many small things flying around, this is pretty amazing. But I don't recall I had screen tearing...hm.

However, I agree with the little things you mentioned. I'd expect a game carrying Lucas Arts on it to work those things out. I can't imagine they'd release a movie with those little glitches.

17 - It's a good game, but...
it could've used some more play testing before it shipped. I forgave the ai sometimes giving out, but in the final boss battle, it's just unacceptable in quality assurance. My other big grip was that the Sarlac level had holes in the walls that would allow you to fall through the level. Other than those issues, I loved the game, but that might be my Star Wars fanboyism flag waving proudly.

i liked SW:FU. the targeting system was the only thing that really need work. the only other major problem i had was the difficulty level. it seemed like the difficulty didn't increase w/ your level of power. once i started becoming extremely powerful(lots of points in lightning, lightsaber, and push)the normal enemies, even in large number, didn't pose much of a threat. this made the later part of the game sort of boring.
