I remember when I first read that story a few days back about that one group that took on the boss and were fighting him for like over 18 hours and they were all fatigued and passing out!

I couldn't stop cracking up! Imagine you're fighting the boss and are pumped to kick it's ass. One hour...5 hours....10 hours....15 hours passes and your all drained and thinking "What the eff? This fool ain't dying???" LOL sorry couldn't help but laugh.

Good news for those people that planned on fighting the boss but didn't want to play for like 24 hours straight!

It's kinda sad. The way SE worded what they said about the adjustment seems to be that the people who spent 18hrs fighting were doing it wrong but because it got so much attention they are going to fix it regardless. The second I heard about this I thought that the linkshell fighting it must have been doing the fight wrong. Having played FFXI since the US release I have fought every boss in the game and I can tell you that if you don't know what you are doing some fights can be extremely long and if you know what you are doing you can beat a boss in under a hr. If this Linkshell was really the best they would have quickly noticed that what they were doing wasn't working and wouldn't have wasted 18hrs on a losing fight.

Wow they are finally fixing absolute virtue. For those who don't know this is the most insane boss in any game, ever. It's only been beaten a handful of times and the first linkshells to fight it spent 40-60+ hours fighting. They had to use a glitch to kill him. SE did something to AV and acted like they never did anything to him. They would flat out deny it when asked. No linkshell beat him after that, and the only thing SE said was your doing it wrong. Nice to see them do something finally.

It's stuff like this that cause me to quit the game after two years. If you think this is just one random screw up in this game think again. This is basically how they designed the whole game and it sucks. FFXI is a life consumer. I wouldn't recommend anyone to play this game.

Man I'm glad I don't play this game anymore... Grew way too tired of "beta testing" SE's bullshit content for them. About 2-3 LSes have killed AV, mine got it down to 6% (using the wall of justice after ~6-7hrs) before we were all tossed in jail and no one has killed it since. That was 2 years ago and those guys still haven't learned. They released a video to help out players but it raised waaaaay too many questions and not a single answer.

Now once again they release content that is clearly not ready. Theres no trick to it, its just unfinished/untested content. I'm also not very fond of how they are basically telling players "YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG".

They should give a badge or something to the folks who actually DID beat the boss after 18 hours, seems like such a waste to have that kind of marathon only to have the accomplishment dumbed down for the masses. Sure it's only a bunch of pixels, but everyone should know you were dumb enough to fight something for 18 hours straight.

I'm surprised people still play the game. What a waste of time and energy. For my first MMO experience, it was horrible and showed so many signs of needing adjustment. Horrible gil system, horrible traveling and leveling. Pointless game, but thanks to it I found out I'm not that into MMO's at all, until the Agency and DC Universe come out. Than I'll give it a try I guess.

Wow, that game got dumber after I quit. I wasted too much time on that game. For those who played: Lv75 Whm and Blm, and 63 Rdm; Alexander Server; Reflect/Defiance LS.
