I am aware of that. I've already thought that it was well past 1 million in terms of actual numbers, but still, once VG finds the time to pull some numbers out the air and it passes the 1 mill mark, then most people can't deny the success of MGS4.

Yup. The Xbox 360 sold well, but the PS3 sold BETTER.
And I really wouldn't be surprised if the PS3 continued to outsell the 360, week after week, all the way up to Christmas considering the lineup of games...

This year truly has been a turning point for the PS3. I can't wait to see what the next year brings.

Oh noes! Only one PS3 game in the top 10? Less than a million copies of MGS4 during the first month? Ouch. (in America, of course)

The Metal Gear series has been around how long? Around 20 years, and it sells less than a million copies in the US in one month? That's pathetic. Halo has been around what, 7 years and sells a million in 10 minutes.

7.5 - Just like halo3 was release 2006 and PS3 still outsold the 360

Also, Sony didn't buy out the reveiwers like M$ did, because there is no way Halo3 deserve anything above an 8. Cod4 in 2006 puts halo3 to shame in every catagory from single player to multiplayer. As a long time halo fan, halo3 was garbage and I finish the single player and played about 2 hours of multiplayer before it felt old. Halo3 has sold 4 million more copies than cod4 on 360 and yet COD4 gets played more on xlive by more people. I guess that's a big slap in the face considering Halo3 was release only a month before COD4 and I guess people felt halo3 was old before it got release. You could defend 360 all you want but we all know that the best games are on PS3...All 360 brags about are multiplaform games..did you see there conference? where were their exclusive's? and why was their big announcement about a multiplatform game? PS3 equalls original content and 360 equals multiplatform content? You 360 fans are blind

so 8 mil to a 19+mil install base is low? and i suppose that 2+mil to a 12+mil install base is absolutely phonemonal? rite!

although i agree with clever advertising helping sales, you cant down play the fact that a game that clearly never desevered it's 10/10 scores sold to nearly 50% of the owners! and a new title like gears selling so well! whilst i dont agree with fanboyism and hating games and consoles because they are made by someone else, after all the talk of everything being finished because of mgs4, it's not a great showing and doesn't give many comapnys an incentive to stay sony exclusive does it??

an no way will mgs4 sell more than halo. although probably a better game, 8mil sales is an incredible achievement.....mgs would beat it though if it was multi-platform.

they should have used the add money to make a better game, probably would have sold anyway and 360's flagship title wouldn't be a joke. Look at MGS4, it's a technical marvel.

xbox isnt making any money off their system either. they`ve lost almost 1 billion in creating the Elite series that was supposed to solve the RRoD, but it ended up failing. Some people have reported going through 10 Xbox 360s since the system`s release. that is a huge hassle and costs the company a ton of money.

I know you seem to be a nintendo fan and honestly i support nintendo as well. I just think their games are a little too childish for me to actually think of buying their system.

And please dont give me that the reason is because there are other amazing games to buy on the PS3.....

u say ur against fanboyism but thats all you act like in your post. Yea Halo sold 8mil in a span of years. MGS4 sold 3 mil in months. And that in fact does actually give developers a reason to go sony exclusive because they knwo they will still make a lot of money for less effort.

Sony has over 75 exclusive titles to be released for the PS3 which is a lot more than any other system. Being that i own both systems and seeing where both companies are going, I have a feeling my Xbox will be sitting on the shelf only to collect dust within the next year.

There is nothing I am looking forward to on the M$ side, but PS3 has Resistance 2, LittleBigPlanet, Home, and Pixeljunk Eden due out before Xmas. Along with Killzone 2 in Feb 2009, and titles like MAG in late 2009 hopefully. And those are only the games I know of right now I am sure other games will come along in that time span.

I want FFXIII but IMO i think the PS3 version will perform better in all aspects so I will get it for PS3. nothing against Xbox but the way things are going right now the last thing i want is a RRoD with no warranty left on it so i don`t use it much.

Good for Sony but people arguing against MGS4 need to wake up. There is a difference between who Halo can advertise to and MGS4 can. MGS4 is a lot harder and less attractive to the casual guy who probably couldn't get past the first Act.

????????? How. That's like saying Gran Turismo on the PS is better than GT5 Prologue or the full game when it comes out. Certain things get better with technology as they expand upon the idea of the game such as stealth a lot better. MGS4 captures the battle between stealth and the very intelligent AI of the game. MGS was great but very predictable and easy to maneuver around once you have the gist of the game memorized. And for all the times I've beaten MGS4 already and getting the Big Boss Emblem, it is still a challenge against an AI that is smart to accommodate to you and what you are doing.

I mean when the first came out it was better then when mgs4 came out.........mgs1 was innovative.
How is the new metal gear innovative.Its the same for 12 years now with better graphics and more tuned AI in a different battle setting.The first had much more of an impact on me then any others will ever have or ever will.
