IGN: Alone in the Dark Review

Nearly every gamplay mechanic fails in one way or another. While the game is functional, Alone in the Dark is a clear case of something that needed to be baked in the oven longer. The overall concept is solid, but the testing phase seems to have been glossed over. While not everything about Alone in the Dark will make you tear your hair out, the unrefined gameplay weighs down the overall package heavily.

i don't know how Atari is going to do now.. they put so much faith into this one to save them.

it's unfortunate that this game wasn't great. they should have just delayed it and fixed it up.

I hope that Atari can clean up the PS3 version of Alone in the Dark because if they don't plan on making some MAJOR changes to the PS3 version, they shouldn't even release it for the PS3 if you ask me.

It's a shame that a game that had such high hopes ended up failing. If the PS3 version ends up better, I might consider buying it.

.... I wish that a gaming site could interview Phil Harrison or some of the developers at Eden Games and ask them "What the heck went wrong with Alone in the Dark and how do they feel about it" or something.

I really had a lot of hope in this title. Its been a long time since a great survival Horror game came out. I'm talking about you RE4 and I was really hoping that this game could bring something new to the genera. Its to bad that this is a epic fail for Atari and us as gamers ><

Just play the game

Alone In The Dark and Hellboy aren't bad at all

Alone In The Dark is somewhat clunky but was way more entertaining than MGS4 and Ninja Gaiden 2 for me. The IGN reviews for both games are overly cynical. Nothing but negativity and that's not fair nor justifiable.

Just play them for yourselves. They're not amazing games but they're definitely not p!ss poor like all the reviews say they are. I really don't get why people are judging these games so harsly
