LucasArts confirms: No multiplayer for PS3/360 Force Unleashed

Phil Meza reports: "Star Wars The Force Unleashed, LucasArts' first current-gen adventure in the post - Hayden Christensen saga, has been slowly lifting its curtain over the past few months as we've gotten word on a release date and more. The Wii version's Duel Mode has been getting its fair shar of press lately, and the PSP/DS's wi-fi play is sure to notice soon; but the multiplayer component for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions (which was confirmed nearly a year ago), has been on media blackout."

I can't believe Lucasarts is making so many bad decisions with this game. No Multiplayer after stating that it would have multiplayer is a big mistake. Saying that this game will not run on a Low-End PC is the reason they won't make it for PC. That is another Mistake. Lots of Low-End PCs are more capable than what they think. They have been cutting down my interest in this game. Now I will only rent or buy it for cheap if I remember to do so, if not owell. They don't deserve my money.

the example is God of War, it's a huge title and I don't miss the MP, I can replay that title just for play the game itself, just like my old NES/SNES games.

You have a point there, but the only difference is that SW doesn't have a proven single player experience as does the GOW series.

That being said, as long as the game is of a considerable (and acceptable) length and is built very well then I don't mind the lack of multiplayer.

Thats an absolutely stupid reply that lucas arts guy gave.. if there is multiplayer for Wii, PSP and PS2 it can easily be there for Xbox360 and PS3 too. I think they are doing something like wht epic did with Gears.. exclusive content for PC owners as they had to wait.. so multiplayer for Wii, PSP and ps2 owners as they wont get the graphical delight what we get on the 360 and PS3.. but still its Lame....

Still buying it! Not sure what the all the fuss is with multiplayer this bloody generation. If a game is good, it's good!I've got a TON of multiplayer games already which I own. I'll play one of them if I really want to play with friends. (Still till this day haven't touched the online multiplayer mode in COD4 and I bought that on day 1!)

Not EVERY game needs multiplayer, get a grip.

no multiplayer no sale here either... i could care less about single player aspect of games, kind of a waste of time playing against the computer unless you are really interested in the story which you can see on youtube 1 week after the game has been out.

I enjoy the competition of playing other people and after how cool the wii duel mode looked i got excited about this game, guess i just saved $60 now.

really less sales ? From the videos shown it was kinda obvious that multi sucked and was only there to be there . IF it looked fun , might have only something to do with playing with a wiimote , but it doesnt look balanced and interesting at all .

Those of you boycotting the game are crazy , what attracted you to it was nothing multiplayer ... just enjoy a possibly great solo experience and let others enjoy the wiimote gimmick gameplay (btw i have a wii too... and i'll choose hi def here .. since i wasnt convince that the wiimote is fully and well used in this game)

17 - the single player better be really long and knock our freaking socks off!!!!!

I don't mind multiplayer on this game at all. However since they are focusing all their resources on the single player campaign they it better not be average lengh (6-8 hours). It has to be 15+ hours and really have to blow me away for it to be a buy!!

I am going to wait for a review on this before I even consider buying. There are just too many good games coming out so I can be picky...

BTW did anyone else think that his answer to the missing multiplayer was a little arrogant?

I thought a beautiful single player game that supports Euphoria, DMM and Havok sounds brilliant. I'm a bit of a technophile, you see.

I'd much rather have that than a single player game ported from the PS2 and a lightsaber fight game that doesn't have one-to-one Wii-mote motion.

But I guess that is just my opinion and you don't share it.
I hope we both enjoy our respective choices.

again i dont see the big fuss ... playing vader , playing finally a jedi using fully his power in an interesting and gorgeous looking story , should be enough for any star wars fans , and a few action game fans .

Even as a wii owner , i'll favor a ps3/360 version .. for the simple reason that the wii one looks awful and thus loose must of its luster . I would care for waving the wiimote around , if it truly was like reproducing your every moves with on the wiimote , on screen with a saber , but its far from it ... so yeah i feel its merely a gimmick .

I'd rather choose the psp version , if i was going for ps2 graphics.. at least it being mobile would ofset the average graphics and for those who care still have the multi

"Wah wah wah...I want a crappy short SP campaign in exchange for a quickly thrown together MP that everyone will forget in a day!!"

Don't give me that "my money's worth" crap, Army of Two, F.E.A.R, Turok, Darkness, K&L, Condemned 2, Prey, Timeshift etc...granted, they're Great to ok to terrible...But their SP's were gimped for a cheap quickly thrown together MP...Last time I checked no one was on their servers.

SP>MP everyday, any day.

I wouldn't want the MP gimping the SP turning the game into mediocre crap.

Bioshock, Oblivion, Uncharted, Mass Effect, Kotor, GoW 1&2, Half life 2+episodes etc...Gimping those games for MP would have been atrocious.

I agree that I would rather not have a quickly thrown together mp gimp the sp aspects of the game. However if the sp turn out to be short and average then I will be upset! As per my previous comment. With all the attention the sp is getting it had better be at the very least 12 to 15 hours and epic , just as much if not more than those games that you mentioned!
