Metal Gear Solid NOT a PS2 Port

After some initial confusion, Konami has sent a retraction on comments that said that Metal Gear Solid would be ported to the PS2 for The Essential Collection.

Thank jeebus for the PS3's virtual memory cards, actually I still got all my MGS saves stored on the PS3 anyway. I suppose I could go through with stealth camo and the bandana when I play it now.

Already have MGS1, MGS2, MGS3, MGS3 Subsistence. The main game I want from the Essential Collection is MGS2 Substance. That game is impossible to find new. Anyway, wished that MGS1 in the Essential Collection was MGS1 Integral instead of MGS1 regular.

6.1 - Yeah I know what you mean Jack,
I've only been able to find MGS2 Substance on Gamestop.com for a lousy $24.99 used. After all these years Gamestop is still selling the game used at a higher price than a Greatest Hits title brand new.

I'm buying the collection just for Substance so I plan on trading in my copy of MGS3 Subsistence to receive hopefully at least a $10 allowance on the price of the essential collection. But MGS3 subsistence is packed with 2 DVD's so shouldn't the Essential Collection have 5 discs total? 2 for MGS, 1 for Substance, and 2 for Subsistence.

Don't tell me the second Subsistence DVD-Rom with the classic Metal Gear 1 and 2 games and the Snake Vs. Monkey mini-game is missing from the collection, cause if thats the case then I'm keeping my copy of Subsistence.

I think they cut disc 2 for the release outside Japan.

The US version is 4 discs, just the Metal Gear Solid games.

sony split their install base releasing the 40gb so konami have to release it on ps1 as all ps3 can play ps1 but not all can play ps2 games.

i never played mgs1 past the demo, but have played mgs2 and mgs3 on my ps2. id be interested in this bundle but i live in PAL so i get spit in the eye.

They should put them all on one BR disc and do Sony a favour. You'd only be able to play it on PS3 but it would be so cool to have them all on one disc.
