The world of Guitar Hero is thriving, in no small part thanks to the official community site. Guitar Hero Community currently lets users compete in tournaments and competitions, track progress across Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock and Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, set up user pages and more. Boasting over 600,000 members, new tournaments every day (with t-shirts and other swag as prizes) and more, the place is packed around the clock. It's a portal to the games when you're not at a console, and helps to extend their abilities past what's included on the disc.
With the release of Guitar Hero World Tour this Sunday, Neversoft and Agora Games (the folks behind a lot of the tech on the site) are set to revamp the portal and give users even more options than what's currently available, tie everything into World Tour and unleash features specific to the newest title in the series. IGN had a chance to get a walkthrough of the new site with Neversoft and Agora reps to show them what's in store for users, and the promise is fairly impressive.
