Jolt Review: EUFA Euro 2008

Jolt writes: "These are interesting times. For years, both the gaming public and cynical journalists have been able to rely on what was perceived as a cold, hard fact: Electronic Arts' FIFA franchise was a tired and contemptuous yearly cash-in, easily outclassed by Pro Evolution on every level. That view can now be consigned to history, because while this isn't FIFA by name, EA Canada's efforts in UEFA Euro 2008 serve to demonstrate the considerable eye for football the studio has picked up in recent years.

The compliments can go further than that, however. Though it's been less than a year since EA launched its big gun, FIFA 08, the ground covered between said outing and EA's Euro 2008 license is significant. Almost every niggle cited by critics seven months ago has been addressed in some form in this release, resulting in what is clearly the best football title available on current generation systems. Yes, sometimes life can surprise you."
