New 512MB 8800 GTS Pictured

After the success of the 8800 GT, rumours of a new 8800 GTS based on the G92 core have been on the net for a few weeks now. Now some pictures have been leaked onto the internet, along with some extra specs. It was already known to feature 128 enabled stream processors, and the latest specs claim that the new card will also have a 650MHz core clock speed, shaders at 1625MHz, 512MB memory at 1940MHz and will be nine inches long. Its official release date is said to be December 3rd, with a price tag somewhere between $299 and $349.

This one has the chance to stop NVIDIA from cannibalizing all its own sales with the 8800GT

And if ended it has all 128 stream processors enables it could potentially beat both the GT and GTX

if you already have a 8800 or some other variation, this one probably isn't worth the purchase. considering in a few months nvidia will be releasing their 9xxx series

I think we're finally over with seeing $600 high-end cards if the 8800GT is any proof. And yes, this card supports PCI-e 2.0. Its the new standard.

no not really, amd has failed to compete with nvidia, so nvidia is doing what is best for them and gets them the most money. If R600 was as good as it was hyped then we probably have the 9 series(which is supposed to be 3 times faster according some executive in nvidia) by now.

@NRG, 38xx was originally meant to go against 8800GT but from the current prices, you are right about them demolishing the 8600(which is a sorry excuse of a card for its advertised DX10 gaming). I hope AMD is going to do surprise attack on nvidia in the high end market next year(R700?)

Well, AMD helped turn the tables a bit with 3xx0 launch. The 3850 and 3870's are price for less than 200 dollars, and completely destroy the 8600's (their target) and often more matched by the 8800GT and GTS. Some argue the 3850s are even better value/price deals than the 8800GT. Nvidia just simply has a huge head start.

This is mostly because both companies are gearing up for their respective platforms that support 3-4 graphics cards. I doubt the era of $600 cards is over just yet as well. NVIDIA and ATI both have 2 GPU core cards coming early next year.
