Before student Pekka-Eric Auvinen, 18, went on a tragic shooting rampage at Jokela High School in Finland last Wednesday, he not only posted a video on YouTube predicted the massacre, but also played his last round of Battlefield 2.

Anyway on topic. Its annoying blaming it on games. The problem probably came from the attitude of people towards him at school. Maybe he was bullied even my the headmaster. Yes bullying comes from teachers too! What you except if it got out of hand? Now Mr Jack Thompson would blame it on games. What would he do if he was in same situation as he was?

Considering that kids become parents quite easily these days, you can deduce that:
- these kids were stupid
- stupid kids who suddenly become parents also become stupid parents.
- becoming a parent doesn't entitle you automatically to become a good parent, and people tend to think the contrary...
- stupid parents are models for their kids, with a high chance of the kid becoming a stupid kid.
- it's a vicious circle.

Sad that every point you made was quite true, I know a lot of stupid kids and their stupid parents. You'd think it would be the logical thing and well just natural human progression to grow up and accept responsibility for your offspring, I guess not everyone thinks like that. So he played BF2 so wat !! there are millions who have played the BF2 series including me and it never made me wanna go out and shoot ppl. We had a school stabbing here in the Netherlands a few weeks back, it had nothing to do with games, the guy who was stabbed was bullying the boy with his m8`s for months a few days before he was stabbed he had put out a ciggy in the boys face so its no wonder he snapped.

How long before we see a mothers against battlefield 2 campaign, i have played battlefield 2 for years and never once thought of of killing masses of people. I bet he watched Lost, listened to Shakira, Ate Corn Flakes... yadda yadda yadda, just the normal things that teenagers do these days, most serial killers and mass murderers are not teenagers anymore but in there 30's and 40's and never play these games so why do they get the blame as soon as a teenager kills.????

Im from finland and i know that this was nothing to do with bf2.
This guys idols were Hitler and Staling, he really had some issues.

No matter how deranged this kid was he was still impotent until he got his hands on a .22. So would someone please tell me why it was so easy for him to get one and bring it on school grounds. There are some serious social failures here that we need to look at before we blame video games. Funny thing is if he hadn't been playing Battlefield 2 he might have went off the deep end sooner. I find video games relaxing and challenging at times, but they never make you want to kill someone. There is a disconnect between what is pixelated images on a screen and real life. Haven't you always felt more pumped up after an good action movie that a video game? I guess gamers are just easy to pick on these days!!!!!

Yes it is worth mentioning, because now a new wave of "Antigame" crap is going to come through. And it won't end for a while, now they have this psycho, who plays a video game for the world to see before killing 8 people, then himself. No, what I stated is not pathetic. that was what explained it all for me. The kid had issues and that's the reason he did this.
