Elder Scrolls Online?
17
While doing a little domain crawling, Voodoo Extreme noticed that ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks, recently purchased ElderScrollsOnline.com. Combine this little acquisition with the fact that it recently opened up a online game division headed up by Mythic co-founder Matt Firor.

God I hope this rumor is untrue. First WarCraft, then Diablo and now TES? At least Fallout 3 is seperate from Fallout MMOs.
I never enjoyed an MMO. I don't know why they're so popular.

I agree. I have tried playing EVERY MMO that has ever been a big hit... and the most I ever played was WoW for a month. Then I canceled my account.
If level grinding was not such a time consuming project in these games, or at least if they made level grinding more fun than go here, get x amount of this, and bring it back to me, I would keep playing them.
I prefer strategy games (C&C3,StarCreft, SupCom..) most of all though, so maybe that is why I don't like MMOs?

I'm sure you could always just play offline single player like normal. Sort of like Test Drive Unlimited.

not being a big mmo fan, i have played City of Heroes and that was nice. but I could care less bout MMO's they remind me of reality tv. pure trash. But I guess should i feel excited about one. TES would definatly rank up there in the top 2 of what i would be excited for. the other being staw wars. KOTOR preferablly. well preferably not. but the lesser chosen of the evils.

2.2 - MMO's are not RPGs
Oblivion sold well because it was a deep RPG with a huge world and amazing graphics. KOTOR sold well because it had a great plot, tons of dialogue, and you could choose to be good or evil.
I don't see how these would translate into an MMO. Oblivion would look like poo poo as an MMO, and KOTOR would lose it's character.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn. I have a hard enough time playing off line games, let alone online ones... even more so online MMO games. Think I'll pass. I like just single player games, by and large. I'll play 2 games online at any given time and that'a a chore for me to do anymore. Warhawk and Resistance are the only two games I can go back and back and back too. Everything else is an afterthought.

The awesome part of Oblivion and Elder Scroll series is that you can do whatever you want. Kill most any NPC....Explorer any area you want...
MMOs...suck cause the quests are repetitive...you kill the same types of enemies as you level and the only difference is they are bigger....there is no end in MMOs....there are idiots in MMOs....MMOs cost more to play
As a person who leveled and raided in WoW, I personally would not like to see this happen. If they do, please make it something new and different from the fallout and Elder Scroll series.

Oblivion has always felt like an MMO with no other players. The cities feel so empty lifed..I keep expecting to see someone asking for a group. Then I realize if Oblivion was an MMO the servers would crash every 5 seconds or my pc would crash because there is just too much damn detail. If an Elderscrolls MMO is to be released I hope it's not for at least another 5-7 years so Technology can improve.

That would be pretty intresting. FF XI took away 2 years of my life that's the only problem with MMO's waaaaay to much time needed. Still great and good fun.
