For a game that is going on 4 years old it still looks damn good. And on my PC I have everything set to max @1080*1050 and it looks better than anything that has come out on the consoles to date.

I always wonder when these articles claim that you can see the colours being more 'vibrant' how they have calibrated their displays.

It is unlikely that they are comparing them on the same display and even if they are, the PC will have many more colour options to consider.

I suspect the 'assets' or artwork, will be exactly the same for all versions and it is really framerate, resolution, and loading times which differentiate the versions.

If you don't calibrate your display with something like the Avia or DVE discs, then you have no idea what the proper colours should look like, IMHO.

Mindless sheep that actually give into this BS. PC vs. 360 vs. PS3---Jesus christ why not just make the headline of the story “We need hits to keep our jobs” because that’s what I’m getting from the tools at games radar. Another title should be: “Surprise!! Superior hardware looks better than a 2 year old console!”
This moron’s comparison is almost as asinine as posting something like-- “Comparing our 47” LCD HDTV with 1080p 120Hz, 20,000:1 contrast ratio, and 1ms response time with our 25” CRT with bunny ears, we discovered the 25” TV’s colors weren’t as bright”

This is just some useless attempt by some pindick over at eurotrash gamesradar to get some hits on the site. And it works!! Because of YOU!

For god sakes why in the HELL would PC ever look worse than either of the consoles??
It is simply the nature of PC hardware to always trump consoles because it constantly evolves whereas consoles are static throughout their life cycle. Also, PC hardware will never have the same $400 or $300 pricing sweet spot that consoles do, because high end $5,000 PC’s sell, thus PC games will always be able to see more detail with their rigs.

BUT--His arguments were just god damn weak. Even though the PC version should inherently be of higher quality than the 360’s, it is not beyond my eyes to see that those screens could have EASILY been doctored to exacerbate his point. Drab colors? Seriously? No $hit, for just another $1,200 I won’t have to “put up with” reds that just don’t pop the way they should?! Try getting a new display with a higher color gamut you god damn ass clown.

If you are going to make an arbitrary comparison of graphics capabilities at least have the god damn decency to come up with decent criticisms like “poor frame rates by comparison” or “character models obviously suffered” or “the 360’s texture capabilities sucked by comparison” or something like that. Not-- “We are trustworthy industry professionals with highly tuned critical eyes and only through our website will you discover the truth about the 360’s ass ‘colours.’”

funnily, that is what the article said. The point is you pay for what you get. And more importantly, you get a good game not matter what. I play game not count jagged edges or use colour charts against my 24¨ HD monitor or HDTV.

I will get the 360 version for the big screen impact

1.5TB each at 500 gigs, Serial ATA 3Gb.s@ 7,200 RPM with 2x16MB Cache
I'm also thinking about picking up a 4x blu-ray player/burner (waiting for Blu-Ray to have a little more benefit)

A Killer K1 Gaming Network card.

Logitech MX5000 cordless keyboard/mouse combo with LCD

and finally Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi soundcard.

When I said I could play Crysis on high, I meant it. Comparing either an Xbox 360 or PS3 to my machine is laughable at best.
If you think I got ripped off, that's your opinion.

I have the money and credit score to make such ridiculous purchases.
So while you enjoy games games on the Xbox 36o or on a PS3 that can be enjoyed on a PC, I'll be the one looking at the same game with better graphics, if it's marginally better or landslide better.

But, anyway, yeah that's your opinion. I'm just using your opinion to brag I guess. =B

$5000 is alright for me, as I was going to spend $16,000 on another computer with 16 gigs of ram and 4 processors and yadda yadda.
(I have no need for a workstation though)

for 1, they said their pc was 3 times the price, thats $1200. so i admit, the 360 does look good for its price but what all you console fanboys seem to forget is that the console doesnt come with a HDTV in the box does it? or do you just use mummys?

1) That there really is no difference between the two formats (except if you're an Ubergeek who has nothing better to do with your time than compare colours on a colour chart).

2) That even with the cost of a large screen HDTV the 360 is only slightly shabbier than the high range pc version.

3) Thank Christ I never invested in a PS3. What with another big title coming to 360 first, if I was a ps fanboy I'd be pissed of!!!.

4) Pc gaming isn't social. You can't really all sit round your pc on the sofa with your mates the way you can with the 360 (I know that this isn't said in the article, it's my view!!!)

I hope EA don't blow this one on the PS3, I'll be bummed.

The only thing that really sucks about the 360/ps3 version is NO MOUSE AND KEYS. I hope more companies will allow this option, especially since EPIC are implementing this choice of control on the ps3 UT3. Plug in any USB mouse and keys or Bluetooth and BOOM! Off you go!

Thoudsands?? LOL!! People who doesn't know jack about the PC shouldn't throw around absurd figures. What do you think this is, 2004? Thats what it looks like on my $1400 PC and I run Orange Box at 720p 60 FPS without breaking a sweat. The only issue I have is when I run the game with 8X AA, thats when the framerate take a considerable dive but at 4X AA its smooth as butter and looks better than my Xbox 360 by a mile. Half Life 2 is a two years old game people, it came out roughly when Halo 2 came out! That just goes to show how far console technology is already behind the PC. Next year articles like this won't even exist because the gap between the PC graphics and console will only get wider.

After all you can update the hardware to the latest tech, add more memory, etc. It's just a simple reality.

But I will disagree with you strongly on the PC being a "real" gaming machine. Fact is the PC by virtue of the operating systems, and how they are built... they are not "gaming" machines but rather they are general purpose computers that we the public modify, etc to make them be great for gaming.

Consoles on the other hand are the "real" gaming machine as they are designed from ground up (operating system and all) to do ONE thing....play games. They require no hardware updates...they are just made to play games. This is a good and bad thing really. It's good because developers dont have to worry about the ever changing hardware scene...but its bad because...hardware makes fast advances these days and so consoles have a life of about 3 yrs before they truly start to be outdated in terms of the tech inside.

PS3 and 360 will hang in there this year in terms of games graphically but come 2008/2009 you again will see the PC start to pull ahead in terms of graphics and overall capabilities. But to play that...PC users again are going to need to put up a big investment to get the latest, greatest hardware.

To each their own...I personally love my 360 but also do enjoy and RTS now and then on my PC.

It is a tad frustrating to see PC games ALWAYS $10 cheaper. At first I was confused about that, and balked at the premise of the new console development costs. I mean how much more expensive could it be, etc...

But then I started to think things through. PC games have a decided advantage over ANY console when it comes to development. They have the longevity of their "base" development code. I mean think about it....PC gaming development in its core code hasnt changed at all for gosh almost what 20 years probably. Sure their have been advances, etc but its all based off of the original code writing. They just have added to it, refined it, etc. for 20+ years.

The consoles on the other hand, seem to have new ways of writing their code EVERY time they launch a new console. The architecture of writing code for consoles never stays the same...and thus companies need to invest a ton of money into learning the new way. And thus justify's the $10 cost pass along to the consumer.

Console makers would be incredibly smart to adopt a "core" code...just like what you see on PC's. Make their games "cross" console compatible and just focus on the hardware benefits, etc. on their sku's. This would bring the cost of games down considerably and I think open the market up in a big way just as PC gaming has evolved.

But...I doubt that will ever happen. Really the only way it happens is if MS or Sony said...we are opening the doors to other console makers to make their own version of our machine and in a sense force the hand of the other companies in the console war.
