"Your Brother Should Get His Own BioShock" says 2K Games
28
With the recent rumblings of 2k Game including secuRom with the BioShock game disk a question was thrown to the officials over at official BioShock forums. You will not believe their response.
Jakester, a poster over at the official 2k Games forums, who was having problems installing the retail version of the game on his laptop kindly asked a question which went like this :
"I installed Bioshock on my laptop under one admin user, Everything works fine, but I then tried to switch users on my computer and whenever I launch Bioshock it is asking me to enter my serial again for the game…. Is this gonna charge me two of my activations ?"

Well if you get the Xbox 360 version, you wont have to deal with any of this. So if you have a 360 why not get this ?

Yeah I understand that, but if you get it for the 360, you wont have to deal with all this installation problems though.

Hmm I dont like where this is going First Warhawk cant be used on two aacounts on the same PS3 and now Bioshock cant be shared between families. Could this be the beginning of a dark road where families have to buy the same game twice for their children?

I can kinda understand Warhawk though. I mean those 40$ wasn't meant for 5 persons.
Your brother can still play warhawk if he wants whenever you're not playing. With BioShock 2k is saying you can't which is very strict imo. I remember Starcraft even had the functionality of playing LAN with only one cd (by installing multiplayer only) which was badass. I think warcraft III also had a similiar function. But with bioshock they're saying, nope only the owner of the game can play it and no one else, which is not cool. They probably gonna restrict the game from being re-selling too i bet.

4 - I regret downloading warhawk
My son was trying to play warhawk on his account and warhawk wouldn't launch. That is total BS. I don't plan to buy any more downloads if they don't fix this problem. It's the same PS3 so why would you have to download it 2 times and pay 2 times this is ludacrius...If you're going to buy warhawk make sure you buy the disc. No more downloads for me

Well this guy's question said he can activate it 5 times. I don't see the problem here. So use one more activation for your brother and charge him 10 bucks or something. Some people grip over spilled milk, I would understand his frustration if he only has one activation and can't play it anywhere else but come on is he wanting to install that game on 5 sperate PC's?

6 - Just sounds like a flippant response from 2k-- I'm surprised... Warhawk... M$ XBLA...
I'd expect something from their public affairs, as that is totally unreasonable. And as far as the Warhawk issue goes (disclaimer: I have a 360 and Wii, maybe a PS3 later), that truly sucks. If enough people complain (and I expect it will happen), then that will have to change, or Sony will risk their future software downloads, as no one will put up with that. Not that M$ is free of this crap--if you get a RROD, your new machine won't run the XBL Arcade games fully (non-trial) unless you are logged on with your account you bought it with; customer support is very hit or miss as far as solving this (refunding your credits so you can re-download the games on the new console, etc.) -- when I called customer support they had no clue how to handle it. gCM

all you need to do is delete them and redownload them. XBL keeps track of everything you've purchased. No recrediting needed.
I did this when I switched from a 360 premium to a 360 elite. So I can play without being logged on.

thats ridiculous, good that 2k deserves this game getting cracked. PC games from 2k is a big no no from now on.
edit: obvious that it will lead to illegal copying and I am against it esp since Bioshock is a great game but for people who are stuck with a copy they purchased that wont work its ironical they have no way but to use a crack.

I don't like it, but yes, sometimes, that's what these companys are asking for by doing crap like this... then again, that's why these company's do this, because people crack their property. Who loses? We the gamers.

No one loses. Just play on the same profile, no harm done. Either way, even if this is 2K's way of protecting their software against piracy, nothing seems to stop you PC gamers from downloading software illegally, regardless.

hey Bloody Sinner, stop trying to be such a pain. Nobody here who even begins to care about gaming supports illegal copying. Bioshock on 360 is much less restrictive than on PC, which is not fair for PC gamers. Doesnt affect me since I opted to go 360 for this. It used to be that games were installed with an administrator account then played on restrictive accounts. One copy per PC.
edit: copy protection is for preventing punks from downloading illegally, but we are talking about people who legitimately bought the game but found it was more restrictive than on the console and had legitimate problems. you are just being mr haughty

Yeah, it's been cracked to the poit where you don't even need to enter a Serial number, the full install.exe's been conpleatly re-written, there are a few ways around this which I won't go into but can be done easly. Sorry 2Km, you have FAILED and rip-ed of poeple, as for Warhalk, re downloading it from another account will cost you, I sergest delating it, re downloading it, saving it before you instal it, get a new harddrive, add it on there and ues the other log-in on it.

11 - Jay,
I don't know why these companies try, I think it hurts their sales more then they help. I didn't buy this game for the PC because of this, I just play it on the 360. Only thing is I don't have the premium 360 so no 1080p which blows but what can you say.
They should just put some basic stuff on there and save the money. I mean if microsoft couldn't protect their OS's how in the world could a company like 2Km do anything about it? By not doing this lame excuse for a anti-piracy, they could of saved what... maybe a few hundred throusand if not millions and make more sales in the process. Seriously, a PC game is what $39.99... sometimes it's worth it to run down to the store and pick it up then to waste the time to download it even with a broadband connection. Because of this, I'm sure many more users would just download it and play it on as many pc's as they want... and for FREE.
Just in the case of Windows... it's so bothersome to use the legit copy that downloading a cracked version is just "SOOO" much easier to use. Download, install, and done whereas the legit copy, install, register, change video card, call to reregister, change HDD, call to reregister.

This is really rather stupid. I can see limiting copyrighted material to a single machine, but multiple users on one machine? If I got Super Mario Bros on my Nintendo, my sister and step brother were always welcome to play it...if they would have had to buy their own copies, no one would ever have had the fond childhood gaming memories that they do now.

14 - Gamers Creed
Why do people keep posting news from this website gamers-creed.com. That freaking site seems to only load up during a 30-minute period in the middle of the night. What respectable website in inaccessible for a majority of the day? It's obviously not just too busy all the time or else it would have more than one comment on an article after weeks of being posted. That site is garbage.
