Bioshock Early Release Confirmed?

It appears that BioShock has changed it's release date to today. There has no been any official conformation from Microsoft or Take Two and neither of their PR agencies are available for contact. However, many things are proving that this is true...

Below is a video in which (As the website states) the trailer that stated the release of the Bioshock demo is shortened and ends with a "Blink and you'll miss it", "Available Now" message instead of "Download The Demo Now"

All the people are calling their local stores. Some people have said that they're stores have it. It seems every store has it, just finding a store that will give it to you is hard. You should bribe the cashier with Pokémon cards or something.

@Azurite: Yeah but changing the release date and finding a couple of stores breaking the street date are 2 TOTALLY different things. I want to know if by tommorow I can go to almost any store and get it. Or if it is only stores with incompetent people in charge releasing early. If they "Officialy" changed the release date it should be everywhere by tomorrow.

Hey ya, there is a coupon for 20% off any 1 item at Toys R Us. I just printed it and am heading there at lunch! I'm hoping to luck out here and get Bioshock early, plus save 20%!!!! Coupon is only good till 8/18, so the 'official' release date is not good.

8 - My local Toys R Us got a shipment, but its not on shelves yet...

They said maybe this afternoon or tomorrow - this is in Kansas City. Honestly, I really want this game, but I can wait until next Tuesday.

Plus I was the third person to call within the last 5 minutes according to the employee.

I went to Best Buy, Target, GameStop, Toys R Us, Circuit City, K-Mart and Wal-Mart and none of them were selling it. The chick at Toys R Us said if they break the street date, they get fined. She also said they didn't even have it yet and don't usually get it this early. The lady at GameStop said they'll break the street date if someone has a receipt proving another store broke it, and then they call the District Manager for approval. I asked if they had it, she said not yet. I'm a little bummed for now. :-(

I just went to Toys R Us and Target. TRU just said, have to wait to the 21st, which made me think that it was there. And the old guy at Target basically said "putting it on the shelf before the release date was a big no-no". So, no luck.

But remember the Gears of War fiasco? The shipment of copies for most of the Gamestops in the North East was left sitting on the tarmac in Memphis at the Fed Ex facility and I got screwed (only 1 day, but still). It put me off of pre-ordering but I'm getting nervous about Bioshock and all the hype. I really want to get a copy on release day. I may break down and pre-order.

I have to fly out to Dubai to get games, i won't go into why, but it's kind of good because theres a store that gets straight imports from America so it will have a lot of copies and no one will buy it. They had only 2 PS3s there as soon as it released in US, and one of them was still there last month...

"available now, downloadable demo", at least that's what it says in the tv-spot that's on marketplace, and what I saw from this video, it says the same.

I just pre-ordered the special edition and the game can't come quick enough, I'm totally sucked into this game and have been wondering through the demo for hours, it's just so awesome.

He paid that amount down on a pre order, that's all. The original release date stands!

Besides, for anyone that knows and pays attention, Toys "R" US doesn't ever get games the day there actually released, they get them about a week late.

Occasionaly a video game "RETAILER" will unpack a game and sell it one or two days before actual release date, but they only get the games on release date or rare occasion 2 days before, so again this isn't out now, so relax.

If it is true...that would be nice. i remember when Summit Strike's release date was changed to come out sooner than it was intended.

i guess there is know doubt a game is completely done and not rushed out when this happens.

18 - Bioshock is good but ...

i watched one of the latest episodes of epileptic gaming ( www.epilepticgaming.com ) and they mention some things in Bioshock that i also noticed.

Don't know what it is, but the game's graphics doesn't wow me like Gears's or Motorstorm's did. Everything looks kinda plastic and flat and there's no "shine" on objects and characters like in GOW. And yes, i do own a HD-TV.

I will definetely buy this game because as i said before, the atmosphere is very cool - maybe the best ever created.

But for me, graphics-wise, it didn't live up to the hype.

I got 2 main points from them:

They said it lacked replayability because it had no multiplayer and could be completed in 2 days so they wondered whether a full out purchase was actually worth it or is it worth a rental instead?

Oh yeah and they mentioned the thing about the hack minigame being like the pipeline game of 20 years ago that's used in so many other games.

Those were the only 2 bad points I got off them though. Graphics-wise, Bioshock looks awesome. Gameplay-wise, dunno because it's not out yet (Or should I say it "shouldn't" be out yet lol).

The Ebgames here in Apex NC said they had it on Monday but will not sell it until the release date. So I know this isn't BS its just a matter of getting someone to sell it to you. Like I said early Target in the past went to the back to get games for me and sold them to me before release date.

Went in and talked with a very nice employee. She said that there was no release date on the box like there was for Madden 08, so they figured they could go ahead and sell them.

My local Target said "no way" as did the Gamestop where I reserved a copy.

I think I may have been the only person to catch this at a local TRU in Ohio, they had about 15 copies behind the glass. I paired it up with the Madden 08 for 50% off and had the 20% off coupon as well.

2 new releases for 80 bucks? Not a bad day at all. Haven't played either one yet though :(
