I was kind of expecting this out in 2011 though that was kind of optimistic considering how Blizzard won't release a game until it's perfect.

edit: I'm so glad I have Torchlight to play thanks to Runic Games.

It will probably make use of DX11 features but I doubt you'd need to upgrade your graphics card. Blizzard tends to make its games playable on most computers.

@1.3 who knows about a demo, as for a graphics card update by the time the game comes out the current series of cards would be cheap, but from what i have seen i would think a low-mid range card should suffice.

Also diablo games have never been hardware hogs like crysis.

So that makes for what, at least a 4year wait since it was announced?
Ouch.
Although I doubt any Diablo fans will lose interest, I do think ti's a bit silly getting peoples hopes up for an earlier release.

I don't think we will see an exact release date anytime soon. If they said in 'the next few years' then it prob won't be out for a long time. But it will be a great game, highly anticipated.

well from what I know the game takes place in Sanctuary, the dark fantasy world of the Diablo series. This world was saved twenty years prior by a handful of unnamed heroes in Diablo II. Warriors that survived the onslaught of the armies of the Burning Hells have gone mad from their ordeals and it is up to a new generation of heroes to face the forces of evil threatening the world of Sanctuary. Players will have the opportunity to explore familiar settings such as Tristram.

"Next few years" ?

It probably means there will be a ton of innovations, as in Starcraft 2, right ? :-P

so many years for so-called "polish"... Well finished games rule, but here it's becoming a bit ridiculous imo

They kind of backed themselves into a corner on the RPG front. Any other RPG's they release will be competing with each other, and Blizzard's RPG's stomp everything else out there.

Think of Having MW2 and WaW2 release the same month, it'd kind of be like that.

So 2011, Blizzard already stated that there are two large titles releasing in 2010; those being Starcraft 2 and WoW: Cataclysm... obviously that means no Diablo 3 in 2010.

Kind of sucks. Diablo 3 looks outdated graphically as it is... and it's been long enough since Diablo 2. I suppose they probably only started developing it recently. But even still - there's only so much balancing and tweaking you can do before you let the public get their hands on it and you need to make more tweaks. I would prefer it sooner rather than later.

Whhhhhhyyyyyyyyyy gaaaaawwwd wwwwwhhhhyyyyyyyy?!

Maybe they're re-doing the art style to something a little more... Diablo. That could take a long time, and I'd be willing to wait because of it.

really Blizzard? you announce the game, announce new classes, new features, start showing videos for the new classes, etc. blizzard has been doing everything they can to get fans of Diablo 2, who have been waiting almost 10 years, exited about D3. and now they announce it will still be a few YEARS before the game comes out.

by the the time this game finally comes out i will not care anymore.

I hope that doesnt happen, the end of the world part that is. I can wait for D3 just as long as I get to play it. I still play D2 at least 3 to 4 times a week.

I feel sorry for Diablo fans, or fans of anything blizzard in general. Not because blizzard makes bad games or anything, they just take so damn long.
