Battlefield Bad Company 2 Won't Support Games for Windows Live

While not that shocking, DICE has confirmed that BFBC2 will not support Games for Windows Live features. This means PC gamers will have to make do with web stats, ranks and badges instead of achievements. Rather than calling for a boycott, this will likely have PC gamers saying amen.

They really should use Steamworks for this game. I believe EA and Valve are on pretty good terms seeing as EA distributes their physical games, so I can't see why they wouldn't be interested in supporting Steam with this title. That would definitely make Bad Company 2 more attractive to me as a PC gamer.

They said the game would definitely be on Steam, but I dunno whether it will actually use Steam. It'd be a great way of tracking stats and gameplay info for DICE.

Or maybe just use Steamworks on the Steam release. Keep the retail version separate because I know some people don't like using Steam when it's mandatory. Epic Games did this with Unreal Tournament 3. There's a retail version, and Steam version with Steamworks, achievements and such. All you had to do was use your retail game code in the product activator on Steam and you were good to go. I wish more games did this.

It was more a joke than anything saying "chink in their armor" because it looks and sounds so good right now, especially when compared to PC MW2. That's all I could find to fault but it's not even really an issue. The only thing Live could do is help convert console fanboys to PC but we know that won't really happen don't we?
