OXM UK writes: "Fox took a huge gamble with James Cameron's latest sci-fi epic, funding pre-production on Avatar to the tune of $10 million, reserving the right to not even make the movie if they didn't like what they saw.

Ubisoft started development on the game at around the same time, reaping the benefits of a plot, mythology and visual style that was already fully-fleshed out."
