Mortal Online's Nude Models Cause A Stir
29
Screenshots taken on the beta of the upcoming MMO, Mortal Online, have surfaced, demonstrating just how realistic developers are making the game.
Characters are totally nude underneath their armour and considering that full looting of fallen opponents is allowed, it's a sight all MO players will have to get used to.

Why is society so forked up that virtual nakedness would require a higher age limit than virtual killings?

Personally I don't see our society's fascination with killing being ok but sex or nudity not being ok.
I mean a normal person is going to grow up and hopefully start a family and that would require nudity and sex however it's not a hope of the average person to grow up to be a murderer to this whole negative stigma should really be towards the violence and not the sex as one is a common occurrence in life while the other is a horrible thing.

I'm literally cringing in anticipation of the moral outrage, if this makes the mainstream news for some reason. Humanity depresses me sometimes. POLYGONAL PENIS! THINK OF THE CHILDREN!
AoC had tits, if I remember rightly, and Second Life has... well, everything. But if this picks up at all...

6 - I still scratches my head
on the outrage regarding nudity. We don't see as much outrage when it comes to violent games. As an adult, I don't mind playing adult games. As a parent, it is my duty and responsibility to keep my under age children away from adult games. Some parents are too busy or too lazy that they expect others to do the parenting for their children.

6.1 - Nailed it
Parents are the ones with the ultimate responsibility of censoring what their child(ren) see. If anything, the parents of the children that play questionable content for their age should be punished and not the content manufacturer. It is the equivalent of letting your 10 yr. old play with your vibrating dildo, you just don't do it. So why would you let your 10yr. old play adult games that are meant for ADULTS?

I wholeheartedly agree with you. It is the parents' responsibility to police their children's game-playing experience, not the media, nor the governments.
Now when it comes down to nudity in games, I have no problem with it, especially if it goes along with the games theme or storyline. Mass Effect's sex scene was quite mild compared to some R rated and even some PG-13 movies that I have seen, and couldn't understand the uproar. Then there are games that go out of their way not to show nudity, but yet it takes away from the experience completely. Like many have already stated, there is more outrage when a game shows side-boob, but yet nothing is said about exploding heads?
Yes, at one time there was a vehement outcry about violence in VGs, but that has died down quite a bit. So that makes me think that one day, nudity will also come to the same conclusion. The thing is, "M" is on the box for a reason and parents need to recognize their responsibilities and decide what is best for their children.

remember the hot coffee outrage back when GTA: San Andreas came out? That was completely stupid. The outrage came because of an edited scene you had to hack the game to get. I remember some grandmother on the news ticked off because she ought it for her grandson. Apparently, she had no problem with him dealing drugs, murdering cops, or messin with hookers, but when he cracked the game and found this little scene, it was tasteless.
The biggest mistake the game industry ever made was letting politicians label gaming as a child's hobby.

As always, the people behind this have no clue of anything, but act like they are all knowing. It's unbelieveable, just watch the clip on Youtube where Geoff Keighley from gametrailers.com is defending the "sexually intense" scene from Mass Effect. That stupid lady has no clue what the hell she is talking about and even after Keighley explained it, she talked down on him with an unbelieveably arrogant tone, I would verbally execute her on TV just for being such a dumbass. I wonder how Keighley could keep it together and why he hasn't humiliated her in front of millions of people, he had a lot of chances.
http://www.youtube.com/watc...
That guy with the glasses later in the clip basicly admitted that he can't read. "M" for "Mature", where's the freakin' mystery in that? And it's on the front of the box, not on the back like that blonde bimbo said.

I have nothing against this per se, but what is it used for? Are there any gameplay elements that benefit from showing the ol' t&a? I doubt it. So why invest the devtime? Marketing reasons.

I can imagine they've implemented it to keep the punks down, you know, if you act like a jackass in the game you will end up getting killed and stripped of all your gear, leaving you to the embarrassment of running through the city naked.

It's the hypocrisy of American society - every act of violence, how terribly hardcore it is, is allowed and encouraged, but showing some natural flesh is beyond all borders.
