Valve have caught up with EA on this front then...I think it's sad they dont give gamers the option to opt out of viewing the ads

2 - I agree with you, it would have been respectful to allow a choice.
However, the worst thing is people will still buy it just the same, despite being ignored over choice.I won't be buying this game, but then i do believe in exercising my choices, so i'll buy an alternative without advertising. STEAM is sh!te, down with STEAM!!!

4 - Bleh
This is kind of brutal. I don't mind advertising in games when it blends in to the environment (such as putting a BK in a city of a racing game or something) but this just totally stands out and is an eye sore. Hopefully we can spray over top of these! :P

6 - Now we can really see Valve EA roots
Hm maybe the devs who broke off with EA and started Valve still kept in contact, their plan to get the support of hardcore gamers and then use methods that EA use once they were drawn in. Explains the hacked figures of Steam's oddly high income - why was all that money in a subsidiary account, and who was it going to...hmmm... That's one very implausible conspiracy theory lol.
Anyway, this is pathetic. Influenced by or in competition with EA or not, this is a disgusting move by Valve; basically selling-out their fans. I'm personally boycotting the game and any products that I hear have been advertised on it - the less support this system gets the less likely it is that this horrible marketing ploy will catch on to other games.
Who actually buys products because of seeing an advert anyway? "BUY COKE" sorts of adverts are pointless. The only good advert is an informative or creative one, and even then they require moving pictures most of the time and so aren't suitable for these kinds of static in-game ads. Unless... lets not even go there.
