"melee shooter" sounds cool, but also sounds like it could easily be done wrong.

Yes, it is a very good game. The gameplay is unique and well-done--it has some of the best melee I've seen in a game--and the graphics are incredible for an indie game. The "gunplay" is pretty standard, though, and it isn't too prominently featured in the game so I think 'melee brawler' would be more appropriate.
