Not very impressive impressions of the XBox 360 build of the game they saw. Not very impressive impressions across both versions of the game apparently.

2 - im starting to realize that
with these multiplat games that go on ps3 360 and pc, that they are probably purposely making the games look better for the pc versions, especially crytek and epic games and valve

I doubt this is the case. The PC with its dynamic and more technologically advance hardware gives developers way more headroom than the static architecture of current consoles.

yeah lets just totally ignore the fact that your console hardware was old when it was released and now three years later can't hope to compete with the PC hardware out there.

I mean seriously listen to yourself "they are making the PC version better on purpose". They are making the PC version better because they CAN.

Lol, funny comment.
DOOD, all PC versions of games look better, not just those from valve or crytek.

It has to do with hardware limitations of the consoles.
A GF280 XT is already more powerful then a ps3 or a 360 by itself. and thats just a GPU, instead of a whole pc.

"the PC version of Mafia 2 will have higher resolutions and GPU Physx calculated effects resulting in better graphics than the consoles"

GPU PhysX doesn't change the Graphics\look of the game. it'll add some nice physics effect and it'll devastate my GTX295 performance :( like what mirror's edge and batman did :(

Actually, physx makes water/mist/smoke look better then the counterparts that dont use physx.

So it does affect the gfx.

And if you have a good cpu, like for example an I7, then your GPU wont care about the physx, cause the cpu will do most of it.

@Pizza

PhysX are used specifically on GPUs. GPUs can handle a lot more calculations per second than even the fastest CPU.

With the physics on the GPU, that leaves the CPU to do all the stuff it does best - AI, engine, etc.

I dunno what you are talking about, but according to a speedtest my cpu can do a whole lot more calculating then my gpu.

Why do you think GPU's are moving into CPU territory?

Video encoding, physics calculations, Folding@Home, multimedia, etc.

"I dunno what you are talking about, but according to a speedtest my cpu can do a whole lot more calculating then my gpu. "

What CPU vs what GPU? I've got an i7 920 OC'd to 3.7 GHz and when I had an 8800 GT, it encoded video a lot faster than my CPU could.

GPU's have way, way more actual power in them than even the best consumer CPU.

i7 920 vs gf280 XT.

Btw, cpu's are also moving into gpu area's, Hardware is just starting to overlap each other.

I am ofcourse not comparing a cpu to a whole videocard, cause a videocard got ram and more of its own.
If you cant the whole videocard, then you have to count your RAM and your mobo for the cpu as well, otherwise its an unfair contest.

You really don't get what's going on in the industry, do you?

You can't even name your video card properly. It's the GTX 280, no GF280 XT.

Well, I'm glad they're using the PC as the lead platform. PC games from console ports never turn out well
