but the IP i guess is owned by EA now.

Mass Effect is over hyped IMO but I know a lot of people like it so it would be nice for PS3 owners if it was multi-platform. Myself, I would get it for the PC. There's really no reason for it to be an exclusive anyway since EA is a big multi-platform company and makes most of their money off of PS3.

Unless Microsoft has an exclusivity deal or something with Bioware I don't why they wouldn't release the second game, overtime, on the PS3.

And the frame rate was horrible. The texture pop in was a tad bit off too so hopefully if they do a port they will fix the issues first. Honestly, if this game never sees the PS3 I could care less. It's a good game but not really something stellar enough for PS3 fans to cry over.

Right, but the difference being that, IF it WAS available on PS3, I'm sure that would be a PS3/PC owners first choice, as the game is designed for the system.

I don't have the best PC out there, so would I be able to run Mass Effect 2 on my PC as full capacity? Probably not, but would it be optimized for my PS3? Most likely. Just saying if it's available on PS3 as well, I would get it for my PS3, not the PC.

Mass Effect 2 coming to the PS3 will likely see Mass Effect 1 in the same package albeit with Mass Effect 2 improvements. It is only common sense they would wait to bring the PS3 version out considering the scale of that production will likely involve the first title as well.

Mass Effect 1 was technically flawed yes. On Xbox 360 the framerate was poor and there were many glitches but man the game was incredible in spite of those issues.

Mass Effect 2 HOWEVER is a whole different story. From the footage shown at E3 the framerate is rock solid, the visuals are EVEN more polished, the cinematics are stellar and the combat is much improved... all of this running on the Xbox 360.

As for the exclusivity deal, read the update of this article:

"Update: Matt Atwood at EA just contacted us to clarify his statements from earlier today regarding Mass Effect 2's exclusivity to Xbox 360 and PC. He says, "It actually does exist for Mass Effect 2. And beyond that, we haven't announced any plans."

There you have. It IS exclusive to Xbox 360.

1. That ME1/2 is timed exclusive like so many 3rd party games before. Bioschock, Eternal Sonata, NGII, Lost Planet and others. (EAs Orange Box port supports this scenario)

OR

2. That EA will keep the whole ME trilogy console exclusive to 360 and abandon any income from the series on PS3 .

I know which scenario I think is true and most likely to be right...

The question is if it's timed exclusive or not. That they had to come back and clarify his statement should be a red flag already.

The quote: "We've only announced 360 and PC. At this point we're really focused on those platforms." This echoes what we have been told before on other timed exclusive deals.

And there would be no point in having exclusivity only for ME1&2.

I have no interest in the ME games on PS3 personally. I just find it strange that people defend the 360 exclusivity so fiercely when prior events should make you think otherwise...

mass effect 1 has been exclusive to ms for over 2 years now, i think we would have seen something of a ps3 version at least a year ago, or by now. you know, there's actually more proof against these accusations then for them.

installed to your HDD you always have that option.

you know something i have both versions of mass effect,( just to see what the differences were) and the pc version is practically the same as the 360 version. so what ever problems people had with the game, it's just the way the game's engine turned out during that time. to me none of those so called issues hindered my experience with the 360 version of mass effect (i'm still playing the game to this day)

all that matters to me right now is that bioware has indeed improved the engine for ME2 (in the latest issue of oxm they talk about how easy it was improving the game from the last instalment)

edit, after seeing me2 (all running off of 360 hardware) i am definitely getting the 360 version.

Still it would make no sense imo to release ME2 on the ps3 if they can't release ME1 on the ps3. Most people would want to carry over there saved games, and the people who buy the 2nd one on ps3 would miss out on that. Unless they manage to put both on, otherwise they shouldn't bother. If you don't own a 360... use your PC's people! If you have a crappy PC then you better get to upgradin or build a new one or I'm :( for you.

I bought the first Mass Effect on PC and quite enjoyed it... until the unbelievably annoying elevator sequences drove me nuts... sold it a week later on Ebay.

They're probably just waiting to see how Dragon Age: Empires sells on PS3, first. If the PS3 version sells well (which it probably will), then Mass Effect 2 will probably be confirmed for PS3.

11 - Mass Effect 2 will not come to PS3.

Firstly, Look at the site's name that is reporting this, its name basically confirms it is not reliable.

Secondly, Microsoft still has some control over the Mass Effect series, this is evident by the fact they not EA released the Mass Effect: 2-Disc Edition. Remember, Bioware signed a deal with Microsoft for Exclusivity to the 360 for the Mass Effect Trilogy; EA having bought Bioware is now bound by that agreement. It doesn't go away because EA owns Bioware since Bioware still exists in name.

The likelyhood of it going to the PS3 is slim and almost nil in the current market. You have to remember, it is not a simple "Copy + Paste" to another format in this generation. It costs money to release it on many systems, and you need to have balance, is the Mass Effect audience big enough to support a move to the PS3? Will it generate more sales of the game? What would Sony want if anything to allow it on the PS3?

There are a lot of risk involved in many an established series Multiplatform, it is not just a simple thing. You must remember, making two different version of the game requires with you dealing with a lot more work and more work costs more money. You'll have to deal with other companies you do business with believe it or not, such a move could COST EA a lot of money in the future.

The facts speak for themselves, in the official press release, they mention all platforms the game is coming to. This was the official announcement press release for Mass Effect 2. The absence of PS3 in the article means that it is currently, in no tangible sense, being planned for a PS3 release. If it was, that would have been in the announcement.

The PS3 has been selling extremely well too, considering its price point. 22.73 million (as of March 31, 2009)systems, in fact.

30.20 million (as of March 31, 2009) Xbox 360 units.

Now, factoring in the 360's year head start out of the gate, the individuals who bought a replacement unit due to the RROD (Before Warranty), and the fact that PS3 is twice the price, I'd say PS3 is doing damn well. We all know, as said before, that if the two units were more similarly priced, PS3 would obliterate the 360.

And how does what you said relate to what Felix said? WTF? And why would it hurt his feelings? He does not own shares in Sony. He can still play games.

1. show me proof that a significant amount of people bought a 360 because they were too dumb to wait for their free repair. Only PS3 droids would do something like that.

I specified that some individuals elected to buy another unit because the warranty for the rrod issue did not exist at the time. Many people kept their receipt and brought the faulty unit back and obtained another one, thus, another Xbox counted as a sale. This is obviously the minority, but significant enough to be noted. By the way, I went through 6 Xbox 360's. Got two full replacement units.

2. If you are going to say that 360 owners are buying new consoles rather than waiting for their repairs, then the same can be said about PS3 owners that had YLOD and other issues. Ah but i see you neglected to mention that...

3. If the PS3 and xbox launched at the same time and were the same price...the PS3 wouldn't have all the bells and whistles it has now...why do you think it is so expensive? It's because you are getting more than just a gaming machine. So think next time before you open your typical ignorant Droid mouth. The PS3 wouldn't be the machine you have today, it would be a completely stripped down console, and probably wouldn't have Blu-ray in it since it is the most expensive component in the PS3, thus Blu-ray wouldn't have won the format war, HDDVD would still be in the market. BUT yes i believe the PS3 would have a lot more units sold and a greater market share.

Thanks for explaining the obvious, dumb sh1t. Why did I have to hear ANY of that? Believe me, I know that the production costs are high, and of course I know that it's more than a gaming machine you fool. I own one. You're insinuating that I think PS3, right out of the gate, could be produced at low enough cost to be sold at a more reasonable price, or even at this moment that this could be accomplished. Can you quote me saying such a thing? I thought so. Your false proclamations and assumptions are embarrassing, just like some other ignorant fools on this site.

How is your hypothetical argument/rant about a financial decision that never occurred relevant anyway? They decided to implement Blu-Ray and "The Works". They took a gamble. Sony is consistently striving to cut production costs, and are succeeding, hence the last price cuts. And you missed my main point. The fact is that PS3 offers more for your money, and if it was the same price as 360, it would gain more significant market share, and have more units sold. Which you agree with. Eventually PS3 WILL reach a more relevant price point. I know so many people that are tantalized by the PS3, and really want one, but can't yet afford to make the purchase.

And calling people names like Droid doesn't help your defense either, smart one.
