AoC Director On Poor Game Launch

"Game Director of Age of Conan, Craig Morrison, has spoken about the poor performance of the game after the launch, what Funcom did wrong and how they are resolving the issues.

While speaking to IncGamers, Morrison explained that there were a number of factors that contributed to AoC's failure to retain subscribers after the game's launch last year."

I've played this recently, it really is nothing like it was at launch. Funcom has done an excellent job at reviving this title, I hope it succeeds.

I tried it recently after trying a few others (attempting to find a new mmo) and I had fun. But I felt that the party system was not very good at all. I also found that the game really died off past the first town..

It is always hard to admit where one has done wrong, but it is something noble to acknowledge it. Let's see if they get to enhance the service and gameplay for those who are caught in the turmoil from the very beginning.

It's taken a year, it's about time it's resolved. I don't know why they didn't put more content on the game when it released. ANd what about the 360 version?! Nothing yet!

Final Fantasy being the most successful console MMO, it's also on the PC, and has almost no subscribers outside of Japan on consoles.

It blatantly wasn't ready for launch the first time around.

They might be trying to resolve the issues now but maybe it is a little too late for the title? Like they said it will be very hard to get rid of the reputation that the title got when released.

I don't think it's too late, the subs are going up according to the latest news. It'll never be another WoW but it's a valid alternative.

I was there at AoC Launch.

Why it failed:

Unfinished, but thats not it mostly
Promise content for next week, it comes 3 months later
Toy with game balance and change game to Age of Casters
Bugs and paying to act as beta player (Debug Mode. Now using a Single CPU)
