1 - Nice
Cant wait to see more games using this. When you start to instantly notice a game is running on, that's when you know you've seen it too much (ehem Unreal Engine 3). But more specifically, cant wait to get Crysis 2; PC sucks so it's nice to know the console versions will look pretty good.

Although if that OnLive thing is as promised, ill just play the PC version using the service.

Still nothing can compete with a PC version, infact no console game this gen will ever come close to the shear ammount of graphical detail that is present in Crysis. And it has the game play to back it up too.

If only my PC was capable..... guess ill have to settle for the 360 version.

Oh yeah, Crysis is by far the most detailed and realistic game ever created. What they are doing on consoles is pretty amazing though...considering their limitations.

They got one thing wrong though. They said that both consoles have 256MB of video ram, when in fact the 360 has a unified memory architecture in which all 512MB of the ram is shared by the whole system....if the CPU is using less, the GPU can use more and vice versa.

the 360 uses "shared" memory which is what it means.. SHARED. Like the shared graphics on a PC. Dedicated graphics are always the best way to go and I don't think a CPU will EVER be idle while the GPU is working its butt off. So, the comment about GPU offloading its load to an idle CPU is virtually impossible in a game.

I dont think its fair to say nothing on consoles will ever be close to Crysis seeing as we are still early in the console lifecycles. Having played Crysis myself id say that from a purely visual perspective games like Uncharted 2 and Killzone 2 are already close. And if you look at previous generations you would know that neither KZ2 nor Uncharted2 represent the pinnacle of console graphics. So i very much believe we will see games that are technically as good or atleast close to crysis. And from a visual perspective we will definately see games that look better even though one could argue if they are "technically" better.

OMG do I have to type out everything and make it clear for people on this site? I meant MY PC sucks so its glad to know the console versions will look good and is ALSO why I said if OnLive works, I'll just play it using the service for PC.

Yes Blaze, you have to explain your poor wording.

"PC sucks" and "my PC sucks" mean two different things completely. Sucks getting disagreed with but in all fairness, you're the one who forgot the one word that didn't make you look like a PC basher.

One thing I clearly noticed in the CE3 was that the physics calculations and dynamic shadows were behind CE2. It "lagged" for lack of a better word. Just pay attention and you might see it too.

There are also some Crysis mods that might turn into full retail games since some of them are already pitching to publishers. eg. Jurassic Park, Mechwarrior, Stargate etc.

want to see graphic, play crisis on max on 1080p on 40" or bigger Sony or Samsung Tv with dx10.

My wife says that she can pick sand one by one from the screen. It's that detail with everything else.

Cryengine 3 is not bad either but can't really compare by watching you tube quality.

6 - Basically what we've expected
CryEngine 3 pushes the consoles' limits, however none of them can touch a high end PC.

But this is all right, since you buy have graphics cards more expensive than a PS3, some difference is expected.

Graphics cards are actually really cheap now. The HD 4770 can run Crysis on high and it's only $100. For $50 more you can get an HD 4890 or GTX 260.

sukru - 144 days 9 hours ago
6.2 - I know
You're right you can buy good cards for that price. I have a 3870 myself.

But my point was different. You can still buy ~$600 cards:
http://www.newegg.com/Produ...

And those $600 cards produce 2 TERAFLOPS (or more), while theoretical limit for a PS3 is around 400 GIGAFLOPS. Meaning the card can best 5 PS3s chained together.

However, I'd never pay so much on a video card, anyways. I was going technical to show the limits.

pc for wtf, some would call an expensive video card a waste, but when im running crysis 2 with everything maxed at 1680*1050 with 4* anti aliasing, i'll have a gaming session and the ps3 kids can watch and weep

7.2 - Name the price on that rig that runs Crysis maxed out...
And I'll show you what you can do with that money all the while play great games on both the 360 and the PS3 for much less. I have seen guys drop 1200 plus on a gaming rig and play a single game then brag about it but in the end, that is a single game that delivers a single prize of enjoyment. In the end, console gamers like to play far more games so you can have one or two really great looking games or you can play dozens of good looking games and for half the cost... or less.

7.3 - @ 7.2
First of all I have to remind you that for every month that passes, the argument "you need a NASA computer to run Crysis at max"(or something similar, you get it) will be less and less viable. Since yesterdays computer hardware drops in price, fast. and it was not yesterdays hardware that could easily run crysis on max (not counting AA), but more like the day before yesterdays hardware. it's not that expensive to max out crysis today as it was when it came out, it's not the newest of games anymore.

and you know, there are more games than crysis that are worth the extra power in the computer. and mind me, but there are a LOT of PC games. and who said console gamers play more games? I for one play both, and since a computer is essential I might as well use it for games even if it's three years old. (and even if I can't play it on MAX, it doesn't matter since graphics are not everything in a game)

peace

Uhh, I think some people are forgetting that the CryEngine3 is for the PC also. CE3 is set up in a way to make developing multi-platform much easier. A game can be developed for the PC on it, and then through some simple steps converted to work on a PS3 or 360.

The PC version of CryEngine3 hasn't been shown yet I believe. And when it is shown I guarantee it will look better than the console version due to the PC option of scalable graphics. The video maker concludes that the console version of Cry3 is about equal to the PC Cry2 on MEDIUM settings. So we can assume that the Cry3 for PC will out do the console version of Cry3.

but u cant compare 200$ machine with 800$(or more) equipment(req.to run crysis on vista very high)

like 8600 vs gtx 295

9.1 - that logic is flawed
sorry you can't compare a pc that has 2 billion functions and features to a console that only plays games and watches movies, So what's your point anyway? last i checked, a ps3 or non-arcade 360 doesn't even cost $200, You're looking at $400 minimum if you want a quality experience with a hard drive for install and online stuff

Even a ps3 cost more than a 360 because of bluray and a few extra features, so no sh1t sherlock, a full fledged computer with Windows Vista is going to cost more

We're comparing graphical capability here, not price, if you want to argue price, we can talk about overall value which a gaming pc trumps a console by leaps and bounds bang for buck in terms of practicality and maximum potential for multi-tasking and functionality

10 - anyone who actually thought otherwise was deluded
it's hilarious to think that there were actually some people who genuinely believed that the ps3 was superior to high end pcs because of cell and bluray or that it could pull off crysis on high settings, I even think this video didn't do enough justice to Cryengine 2, It is truly a technological marvel way ahead of the competition, For a 2007 game and even 2009 console benchmark games like Killzone 2 are still far behind technology wise

Here's me playing in HD that better showcases the destructibility, scale and mindboggling detail

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Go to 3:00 in the video and admire the pimples on Prophet's face, that will better help you understand why the guy put that character model at the end of the video, All that and it's all rendering seamlessly in one humongous level, Even Resistance isn't anywhere near as massive and yet takes a hit in its visuals

Funny thing is I'm using a 2006 discontinued GPU 8800 released in the same year as the ps3 and yet when i fire up Crysis with my configs which isn't even highest settings with some pop in at a measly 720p no AA, I can't help but think that it is still a full generation ahead of ps3 even though they both released in the same year, And Crysis is only a 7GB game and isn't even optimally optimized to maximize the hardware's potential, it really boggles the mind, To think that I thought playing multiplatforms 1080p 60fps vs console 720p 30 fps was bad enough, I get 100 fps with Street Fighter 4 benchmark at 1920x1080 with 8xAA, Go figure and my machine is worth less than $700 in today's dollars

Nice videos. Crysis still impresses the hell out of me, to this day nothing has come close to matching it's tech. I have KZ2 and a 40inch HD sony bravia, very impressive looking, but it doesn't match this. Truely a game ahead of its time. I've given up trying to defend PC gaming though, there's to many close minded console fanboys out there to who won't give credit to any system except their own.

Why is he comparing Console version of Cry Engine 3 to a much more Powerful PC Cry Engine 2. Until the Cry Engine 3 for PC is actually released you cant compare both PC and Console versions nor can he compare Cry Engine 2 to Cry Engine 3. Theyre both different codes and have different feature sets.

I just hope that Cryengine 3 either has some kind of auto texture downgrader or Crytek downgrade the textures greatly, because if Crysis 2 uses consoles as a lead platform it'll end up looking worse than the original game.

black and white you mean, when you pc fans talk like this, it just shows you like to hear yourselves talk, pcs never have been the most powerful, nor is crysis and crysis warhead the best looking games, nor has cryengine ever been impressive like pc fans and crytek tout it as beeing, nor is ps3 a console, and many games on ps3 and 360 look better than crysis, crysis only looks better in screenshots, but in realtime gameplay, lots of games look better than it

with way worse parts have better looking games, I reall y hope you are on Drugs or something to say that, I bought my 8800 gtx in 2006 and it has more memeory than both consoles put together, and that is just the video card. LOL at the Fail troll! And if you console fanboys did not make stupid comnets , we would not talk to you like this. I like the Ps3, it's games look great but tech wise it will never make a game better than Crysis, the power is just not there
