Star Trek Online exists in prime, parallel reality to Star Trek Movie

In an interesting news post on Star Trek Online's website, the timeline of Star Trek Online, and how it compares/converges with the newest Star Trek movie, is discussed.

The post reveals that Star Trek Online takes place in the "prime reality" of Star Trek - that in which the first series and first ten movies take place. While events in the movie that occurred in the "prime timeline" affect Star Trek Online, other events do not.

First they screw up the movie with this parallel reality crap and now the game wow. What's was so hard about redoing the story just the way it was.

Errr. The article expressly states that the game takes place in the PRIME reality of Star trek. I.e. the universe that contains everything from TOS to Voyager and NOT the film. Essentially what you've just said there is that the alternate reality screwed things up and the original reality screwed things up. Which is it?

Ok I see my comment didn't make any sense. Let me retype it.

First they screwed up the movie with this parallel reality crap, and now the game is set to bring back what I originally hoped for wow. What's was so hard about redoing the story just the way it was in the movie.

Its not that easy to redo.. You are talking about a game that started development years ago to a movie that git written, directed and released, in 18 months. There is a lot more work involved thn just changing the story. You'd have to rework ever story based quest that dealt with the different time line. You'd have to remove Vulcan from the game and redo all those quests and everything else on another planet.

What the he11 lol. 1st I don't know where your getting all this redo stuff from. All i said was I did not like the direction of the movie, and was happy to see the direction of the game. If you liked that crappy movie then good for you.

I must be tlking to a child.... From your own post kid

What's was so hard about redoing the story just the way it was in the movie.

And I gave you the answer. If that isnt what you wanted to say, well that really isnt my problem. My point was the game couldnt be changed to match the movie this late in development. Obviously you need to stop asking questions when you cant even remember asking them and want to act like a dumba$$.

Tell you what think about it for a 3rd time and get it clear this time. I dont care what your personal opinion of the movie or game is.

YOu asked why it wasnt changed and I explained why. Stop smoking pot and maybe you can remember what you posted 33 minutes before your last post.

Kid lol. I got two years on you if 75 is your birth date. The problem here is I didn't ask a question. Sure my typing was off earlier, but it was not a question which had me wondering what he11 you were talking about. Anyways thanks for the insults. I'm sure that's the proper response of an adult lol.

the movie was excellent, it needed a fresh new reboot. star trek had become stale. i actually enjoyed it, it left a loto new possibilities opened up in sequals. you need read more about why jj abrahms made it that way..

3.1 - Without even hearing or reading an interview....
And barely even knowing who abrahms is, I already know why he/they did this time paradox shift thingy.

It was done simply because now they can do whatever in the hell they want to do now and tell brand new stories and try to make tons of money in the process.

The problem is, these "time shifts" are stupid. When ever any movies attempts this crap I think "COP OUT", and for me it makes the whole movie and anything after relating to the movie unrealistic....which is irony I suppose.
