Electronic Arts Confirms Battlefield 3 In Development

other than consoles having to be hardware limited by its memory? 4gb has been the standard in ram for awhile now. Bf2 was one of the first games to really require 2gb of ram

But this is EA we're talking about...I doubt it stays on the platform it should be on.

I know how that was I had a bare minimum system that played bf2
1gb SDRAM
athlon xp 1500 @ 1.3ghz (iirc)
PCI geforce 5700
Trust me I know exactly what you mean.

but what I mean is. Bf2 probably sold more 2x1gb kits than anything else in that time period. It was noted in tons of reviews that 2gb was the way to go. This was the game that finally got me to build my first gaming pc actually. and back then 2gb of ram was anywhere in between $150-$200. Nowadays a 4gb kit can be bought from as low as $45

It would be disheartening to see DICE not take advantage of todays gaming pc for Battlefield 3

Agreed. I really hope we get a PC exclusive BF game again.

I'd love like 80+ person servers. Remake the classic maps from BF2 in the new engine like Karkand.

Bout' damn time too, I've been waiting for a BF3 announcement since 2006 :(

Since the Bad Company franchise was supposed to be the console-oriented spin-off, I'm pretty sure this one will be built around the PC.

Fingers crossed. EA made a lot of money off of 2, and they shouldn't worry about piracy given its a multiplayer game.

I do not care if the game is released on PC and consoles, as long as the PC version isn't gimped because of consoles. As long as DICE has a prime focus of developing this game for PC, fine by me. It really should be this way anyways, even for other multiplats. Ports shouldn't be from console to pc, but PC to console. Video games are developed from a PC firsthand anyways, lol

I got a PS3 but I don't really care about playing another fps with a gamepad. If they put Keyboard and mouse support on PS3 just like unreal tournament, then I will think about buying it on PS3.

As long as the Frost Byte engine can have maps of the same scale as BF2 I'll be one happy camper.

I remember the BF3 "leaked" info, which turned out to be completely false. So disappointing.

never played burnout Im a die hard NFS gamer. an so far NFS has disappointed me last couple years with most wanted, carbon, pro streets,undercover now shift thats 5 NFS games that fail and will fail coming this sept. and if criterion pull this off with their version of nfs.. it will restore my faith in NEED FOR SPEED

mostwanted: even tho it has cops but still sucks. did not like you had to climb up a list to win the game (sucked)= failure

carbon: has cops but still sucks fast an the furious= failure

pro streets: sucks,suck,sucks= failure

undercover: lame, to many actor's in it, frame rate was choppy= failure

SHIFT : looks to much of a clone of GRAN TURISMO-FORZA wanna-be= failure

i really hope they stick close to the bf series and give bf2 a proper sequel.

BFBC + BC2 are all well and good but they're certainly toned down versions of a great game. Heroes is a joke tbh.

1943 should actually be good, but even that has been slimmed down loads.

So i just want a tweaked and graphical updated version of BF3. I still go on BF2 every so often cus it's a great game, it just needs a bit of a graphical boost tbh. I expect them to use frostbite engine though which means destruction :( imo it was more of an annoyance in BFBC than anything else.
