Rumour: BioShock A Lock For PS3

Irrational Games' sci-fi RPG shooter looks like it may be making its way to the PLAYSTATION 3, according to the all things PlayStation blog ThreeSpeech. In today's update on upcoming PS3 software, author Steve Boxer namechecks BioShock as one of the console's "promised future delights." So... confirmed? I stand behind a firm "maybe."

The game is still listed as only appearing on the Xbox 360 and PC at 2K Games' BioShock page and the title has been called an "Xbox 360 exclusive" in the past, a claim the official Xbox site does not make for the game. We'll keep our digits crossed in hopes that ThreeSpeech knows what they're talking about.

UPDATE: 2K reps just contacted Kotaku to let us know "BioShock is exclusive to Xbox360 and PC Games for Windows."

I keep hearing more about this rumor and wonder if there is any truth to it. May be it Bioshock is a timed exclusive. Plus like DAverage said 2K is in trouble and you would wonder why they would not want to get some extra money unless MS payed some big money for the game. I for one would like this rumor to end up true. But if not I can fall back and get the game on the 360 instead.

No need for a petition, not that I would care either way since I'm lucky enough to have both but I will definitely pick this one up for my 360. Whats all the debate about?

-It says right there in the article that deepbrown posted that it's exclusive....sure anything could happen between now and its release but you have to accept their word for it for now, otherwise you could say; "I know what Kojima said but I *believe its coming to the 360", sure dev's or companies have changed their mind in the past and it will happen with some games in the future, but that doesn't mean they ALL do, in fact in most exclusives remain exclusive as announced.

It's exclusive to 360 and PC.
They don't say: it's only announced for 360 and PC, like they did with Assassins Creed for PS3/PC. Announced means timed exclusive. It's exclusive means... it's only for that system.

If it was coming to the PS3, they have been real quiet about it. I doubt they would just port it since it is still in development but I can't see this one coming to the PS3 now. Maybe some time in the distant future but who knows. I still can't wait for this one!

Those 'former' xbox 'exclusives' weren't real exclusives.
Just follow me on this one.

They have never been exclusive in former parts on the XBOX 1.

Oblivion, Saints Row, GRAW 1 you name them. They came out when there was NO COMPETITION. No PS3, no Wii. So yeah they were like a timed exclusive you can say... There was just no other console to bring them to.

So those games now coming to the PS3, Oblivion, Saints Row GRAW 2... It was obvious.

The PS exclusives on the other hand, had all the previous parts exclusive on the Playstation console.

DMC 1,2,3 was PS, nr. 4 is 360 also
Virtua Fighter 1,2,3,4 not on xbox, nr. 5 on 360
GTA 1,2,3, never from day one on the xbox, nr. 4 right from day one on the 360
Virtua Tennis 1,2 not on xbox, nr. 3 on 360

Could go on, but you get the point I think. The PS is loosing real former exclusives, the xbox isn't.

And that's how it is. What's next:

MGS4, Final Fantasy you name them, they will come

IF you Sony boys get it good. You missed out on allot last gen like 1/2 life 2 & DOOM 3 and many other games that the PS2 could not support. Sony has provided a platform that may be able to run this game to some extent. If you guys get it good. That means the publishers and dev. will get more funding for a sequel.

I do believe that Bioshock as mentioned by TakeTwo themselves will be exclusive to Xbox 360 and PC, where as MGS4 will hit the Xbox 360 shelf but only after a 6 to 12 month delay to sony signed aggrement. Nobody has ever just came out and said no to MGS$ coming to the Xbox 360 they always beet around the bush about it, so it will happen, but taketwo said "no". Simple as that.

So if the dev for MGS4 says no and Take 2 says no for their game, why is there a difference between the to? Lets say if both do coming MGS4 for 360 and Bioshock for PS3, I know for sure MGS4 wont look as good on the 360 do to all the compression the dev has to do because its already going past 30GB and who knows how big the final stages of the game will be. But for now lets just keep it as a simple no for both systems.

That's just it, MGS4 people haven't come out and said "no" they only say "not at this time" or something to that effect, where as Bioshocks people say "NO". I'm guessing, as I already said last time that I'm sure the temporary delay on MS getting MGS4 is per a sony aggrement.

Sorry I can't but it was on announced that way, I'm sure it can be found on some forum / just by googling. I've been a System Shock enthustiast and been following the development of Bioshock since it's annoucement as a worthy predecessor of System Shock. It was announced for PC, 360 and PS3 originally until made MS exclusive, pretty similar procedure to the Remedy's newest title.

I don't have a problem with bioshock going to ps3, and I guess I'm a "microsoft fan" - I just like it because its cheaper. Bioshock looks like a great game, and I'm not stupid enough to hate someone for their choice of console, so I'm all for it being allowed to get into as many hands as possible. It can increase the chances of a sequel if you have a deeper fan base.
