i believe it is called:

"call of duty 6: world at war 2: modern warfare 3"

or "COD 6: WAW 2: MW 3" for short

Why not just have 2 war games, Treyarch's game is called "Call of Duty", Infinity Ward's gameis called "Modern Warfare".

If you are in the "I like having one every year" camp, I have one question for you. If they are able to make good games in 12 months, what do you think they could do in 24?

I would rather they spend an extra 12 months on a title making it as special as possible.

Oversaturation is never a good thing.

no new game engine = no sale for me.

im sick of cod games, they were good at 1st on pc, and cod 2 & 4 were good on xbox.

but please stop releasing the same crap every year.

1.7 - @ 1.4 & 1.5
@1.4 The reason why they don't separate the franchises is so that both "series" can benefit from the CoD brand-name. Or more bluntly put, so that regular gamers (who can't tell Treyarch from IW) will buy Treyarch's game.

@1.5 Both games DO have 24-month dev. cycles. See above.

They should just skip Call of Duty completely and name the games Treyarch's War Game and Infinity Ward's War Game, so we know which one to get ;)

Um "unwanteddreamz" they do have 24 month dev cycles. Call of Duty 7 won't come out til 2010. Lol what do you think Infinity Ward just hung out after MW for a year and just started again in December?

1.10 - Personally...I am done with Treyarch.
No interest until they get a clue.

I grew tired of enemy respawns behind friendly lines, enemies running unhindered past multiple allies in efforts to point blank you, the half-dozen "magic" grenades that appear when you try and hide behind something, their save points are crap, and I can go on. Someone needs to clue them in on the fact soldiers didn't have a box of 30 grenades strapped to their arse.

I am done with their wash, rinse, and repeat mentality of play. The game was more tedious than it was fun.

Oops my mistake, and an obvious one at that. I still think these devs (not just COD devs) need to do something before FPS become stale.

Self ownage is the best kind ;)

The simple trick is to avoid the odd numbered Call of Duty's. That way, you skip the treyarch developed games.

I'd like to see Treyarch build their own engine for this, the COD 3 engine was impressive considering it was built in less then 8 months.

2.1 - yah treyarch gets a clean chit for call of duty 3
they built and shipped the game for 5 platforms (360, ps3, pc, xbox, ps2) in 10 months... activision can be blamed for this ... they're doing the same thing with guitar hero now... just throwing one out every year ...

I don't know why I'm getting disagrees, the team at Treyarch had roughly 8 months to not only build a engine but a game to boot. For all we know it could have taken them a month to build it, given how at the time the engine was graphically impressive imagine what they could do with at least a year to build a engine from scratch.

3 - One A Year
*chants it over and over*

Luckily, with them switching off between CoD and MW, they can make engine improvements in the year that they're not releasing.

I didn't even get WaW and probably wont get the next one by Treyarch. Just sticking to the MW series, I have enough shooters not to bother with a CoD every year.

I wouldn't really call it "impressive.."
Anyone can turn an argument into a fanboy argument with a simple fanboy comment.

It would be impressive, however, to see an argument on this site, for once,
Having someone "win" without the "winner" turning to a fanboy comment..

I'd rather read a decent argument, for once, rather than a fanboy fight.. that get's old. =/

COD:WAW was ok, for being in WW2. I think I am just worn out on all the WWII shooters I have played over the year. If they did a modernish era, even veitnam or the 90's gulf storm war, it would be cool. They need to modernize a little, I am getting tired of using dated and ancient weapons, especially going from the mp5 in COD4 to the thompson, it is frustrating.

They should make a Call of duty based on an alternative time line, where all men died from a virus strike (like in y the last man).

Would be cool, a Call of duty with nothing with females in it, fighting for the survival of the human race.

That'd be a bit pointless though since they wouldn't be able to reproduce and keep the human race going.

Then again it leaves room for a nice yet predictable twist in the story.

I think that Call of duty is actually a product that they harvested from an alien space ship that once crashed on earth.

They harvested like 50 Call of duty titles from a spaceship its board computer.
Now they spend each year, replacing the alien models with human ones, so they can release a new title.

And as long as people want it, theres no reason to deny them the game.

12 - Activision is going to milk this franchise into the ground.
Just like they do with all of their franchises. They're one of my least favorite developers along with Bethesda.

Activision, in this case, is merely a publisher. And Bethesda is amazing. Fallout 3 was easily one of the best games I've ever played.

maybe i'll be wrong (i hope so) but i expect mw2 to start showing it's age with the cod4 engine later this year so Treyarch really need to get a new engine sorted out.

I don't really mind too much. IW are better developers than Treyarch imo and well COD is IW's franchise, but i still like the idea of having a COD each year, even if it just means Treyarchs entry is just something to fill the gap. I mean it seems like only yesterday that we were playing COD4 (well most still play it) but then here we are not far away from Mw2 (and it will have been 2 years)

COD1 Was handsdown the best one.

COD4 Was good also.

But the series is getting tired and needs a well earned rest.
