The reason for Blizzard's success can be planted squarely at WoW's feet IMO. That game just owns the PC game market.

I have to disagree. While that might be the reason for their continued success (as let's face it, WoW is all they've done in awhile) they were huge long before that and would no doubt be huge even if they'd done something else instead.
