4 - This game...
Is too far ahead of its time. I wish they would cut down on the impossible graphics they are pushing for.
I can run it, but not very well. It doesn't matter if I'm on min or max settings I always average between 20-40 fps. Something is up with that...and I have to video cards.
Maybe the next game will be better optimized.
I know the new engine runs on PS3 and Xbox 360, so if it can run there, it can run great on pcs.
Note to devs.
Games sell more if you can play them!

My comp run crysis over 100 fps on high setting with AA off and 1280x676 (720p) but I have seen it drop to 40 too averaging out around 80 fps. I just spent around 1300 to build this pc from scratch. I haven't tried warhead though I own it but I am having so much fun with crysis at the moment and this game is hard :(. Chopper keeps killing me.
Comment above me (RealSpy),
By the way crytek is not pushing hardware, they are misusing hardware. With quad core processor and freaking unmatchable video card, PC games should look 100 times better than console but it doesn't while on PS3 has 6 core processor (for dev) with 256 mb video memory and Killzone2 physics, lightening animation are way better than Crysis.
Here is my PS3 spec : 256 video memory and 256 share. 8 core processor with 2 being blocked.
Here is my PC spec : 1gb ddr3 video memory crossfire together 2 4890. 8 gb ddr2 memory and quad core 3.4 processor (overclocked).
and Killzone2 still beats it on some aspect compare to Crysis. Now, that's pushing hardware.

8.2 - Yeah agreed Gamerps360
It's like they optimized it for something very similar to a high end pc, but not quite a high end pc, if you know what I mean... If you don't then I mean it's like it only works best on their system and they just hope people will have an absolutely astonishing computer to make up for the fact it isn't optimised. They absolutely spent ages polishing and optimising killzone for the ps3 so that is how it manages to look better than this in a lot of areas, even though the graphics card on the ps3 is p*ss poor compared to some of the cards you guys have(are you made of money...)

well, I was just adding tower cost. I already had monitor which I used to use it for PS3/360. Had old but nice keyboard but did buy g5 mouse.
here is my complete specs
cosmos 1000 case (came with 4 fans and brought 1 more high speed fan)
1.25 tb green wd hard drive (2 total)
2 - 4890 raiden 1gb card
4 X 2 gb ddr2 800mhz
1 butterfly processor cooler
x3 720 2.8 processor but unlocked 4th core and overclocked to 3.4 ghz
gigabyte 720 motherboard
1 lg dvd drive
wrapped it everything under 1300. I did buy almost everything on sale from tigerdirect, newegg and amazon.

Have you tried any of the mods over at Crymod.com, GamerPS360? There are some really nice ones over there that hugely enhance the graphics. There are some crazy maps as well that are extremely taxing on your graphics cards.

8.6 - Dude, are you kidding?
I have played Killzone 2 on my hdtv and i love it as much as da next next person but better than Crysis? The only thing that Killzone 2 obviously wins over Crysis is animation, I'd give Guerilla that, their mocap hit response system is incredible, but for Crysis ragdoll, that's not even Crytek's fault, they couldn't do ragdoll because of the strict laws in Germany, so it has nothing to do with pushing hardware, When you factor in the quality of animations for animals, inanimate objects and aliens, you'd realize Crysis animations are just as good, it's only the human ragdolls that are constrained by the stupid laws in Germany
Even lighting is debatable considering that Crysis has global illumination with sunlight scenarios where it's harder to emulate realistic lighting, It's always easy to mimic good lighting in dark setting, Just play Doom 3 or Riddick, 2004 games but they still look good by today's standard because of dark settings, So you can't really compare them,
Again, factoring in the level of interactivity and destructibility of Crysis, it's not even worth mentioning Killzone 2 with its scripted physics events and its barrels nailed to the ground like COD4, Stop for a second in Crysis and notice everything that goes on around you, the little details, how the same thing can rarely happen twice, butterflies, how every leaf blade reacts, the mesh in the clothing, the pimples on the prophet's skin when you zoom in the binox, the frogs hopping around, the crabs, chickens, birds on the land and in the sky, even the underwater reactive ai fish and plankton, how you can blow up a building 100 miles away with a launcher and go there and still see it destroyed, all rendering on an enormous monstrous scale, you'd be amazed, Compare it to Killzone 2's far smaller linear levels where you only see that bridge blow up at that one point but every other bridge is magically indestructible, or how the barrels and sandbags don't even react to bullets or grenades, there are even no particle sparks when you shoot at them, just pseudo-ray traced decals, those amazing jaw dropping scenes of physics are awesome but scripted so they aren't better or even close to Crysis
If you want to be technical and break every down tech wise, Crysis is light years ahead of Killzone 2 except for animation and lighting, Considering Crysis is a 2007 game that raped everything else that was out back then and Killzone 2 is a 2009 game that can't even surpass it, I'd say Crysis pushed the envelope pretty damn hard, Sure KZ2 is a console game but if it's taking this long for a console game to rival yet alone surpass a pc game, doesn't that show that the envelope for pc is being pushed anyways? Besides Crysis is not the first game to run like a dog on beefy hardware, Even Half Life 2 ran like crap on the best rigs when it came out back in 2004, Crysis is not nearly as unoptimized as people complain it is especially post tweaks and mods, Bottomline, it pushed the envelope for a 2007 game and kudos to Crytek, Kudos to Guerilla too for pushing the console envelope, Progress has to occur and it's great to see devs go the extra mile
I will agree that Crytek didn't do a very good job releasing Vanilla Crysis because it runs quite bad but modders fixed that so it's irrelevant, Crysis very high isn't the very best it can look and play, Actually, far from it, Things like Natural Mod, Ultra CCC, Mster Config and Real Lifesis mod is where it's at, and they look and run far better and stable, My 2.5 year old machine plays it like this(worth like $500 today) Q6600, 8800gtx, 4GB RAM, and it looks even way better on my hdtv at 1360x768, Note that without tweaks or mods, Very high lags at 18 fps on my machine even at 1280x720, but with tweaks, I can play settings better than Very high at 1360x768 with 2xAA, Just look at these screenshots

HD Video of me playing
http://www.youtube.com/watc...
Watch the video and screenshots and notice everything i've said, it's all about those little details that immerse you but you subconsciously dismiss since they are so realistic, and that's just early levels, not even the large scale battles where there's a lot more chaos, Note, I concede that Killzone 2 has better atmosphere and weapon design, but those have absolutely nothing to do with pushing the envelope visually, even okami runs on the wii, aspects like that are totally opinion and subject to preference, Objectively, Crysis is on a whole other level of detail and visual mechanics

i played this game for the first time last week and i have to remind you that i am fresh off of killzone 2, the game is dope. i bought a hp 9750 elite a couple weeks ago that came with a nvidia 9500 video card and this is the first pc game that i tried out on my new rig. i cant believe i ignored this game for so long because my old pc couldn't run anything. it plays great with the 360 controller and looks very good. i give it a 9.5. i just ordered zeno clash and the orange box for my pc and i think i have just become addicted to pc games.

kinda sux that your playing with a 9500... that card is kinda garbage, but glad that u can actually play the game :) To get an extra frame rate boost try running the game in dx 9 mode by right clicking the games launch icon and then hitting play dx9. It gave my lap top like 10-15 fps more

11 - Crysis has, and always will...
Suffer from people having heard that it is demanding, and believing that there machine wont be able to handle it, and then not buying the game. In reality, if you've updated your computer within the lasy 2 years, you can probably run the gam on High. I've played it on a beast, and on my older PC, which I bought nearly 3 years ago, and cost about $1,500 Australian (at the time, the same bits could be bought in the US for around 1K). It wasnt even the best i could have bought, and can easily handle the game High with frame rate of mid 30's in intense action. It's only a dual core 2.4, with 4Gb ram and 512Mb graphics, nothing too sophisticated. Today you can but the same PC for less than $600, easily within reach of millions of gamers.

Crysis only use dual core. It don't use quad core. That's not how it is on graphic card though. latest nvidia 295 retail price 525 + tax is the only single graphic card that can produce crysis at 1080 p with everything set to ultra over 50 FPS.

Thats not true, crysis does take advantage of quad cores, but i found something out there for people with lower end machines....
If you run the game in dx9 instead of dx10 on all high... u can get about 15fps extra.. no bull.. i didnt beleive it at first , but tried it on my laptop.. all high running the game on dx10 at 22fps... then all high running dx9 same settings... 35 fps... this was with a 9700mobile gts card from nvidia .. resolutions i was running was 1280 by whatever... widescreen resolution
