GDN: The Last Remnant Review

All in all, it's a pretty nice to see a little tweak to the traditional gameplay, even it was for better or for worse, but The Last Remnant certainly does run a risk of alienating some of those more traditional Final Fantasy players. It's impressive animations and attention to detail certainly compliment the breathtaking sound design, but you're going to have a pretty intense machine to run it.

If you're even wondering if you can run the title then you should probably stay away from the title, regardless if you can on lowest settings or not, however, if you're one of those lucky ones with an elite gaming rig, the $39.99 makes The Last Remnant a great buy for a game that is as lengthy and grand as it is.

This game could have been really good if:

- The engine was the Crystal Tools.

- The SaGa Team wasn't involved.

I agree and disagree. Crystal Tools would have done the game justice as it was the UE3 who Flubbed it up but it was Takai's project, it was his experimental ideas. That's what SaGa team do.

The SaGa team has been on a downward spiral since they left the comfort of the Snes...

I have a decent rig and I still find there are really long load times, however I don't have the issues with textures loading and chugging up my system every time I attack (like on the 360). I hope this game gets cancelled for the PS3. It was an utter waste of time on the 360, and mediocre at best on the PC.

3 - im actually enjoying this one on pc
the battle system is pretty fun and there arent any random battles. Not a classic, but probably the best current-gen jrpg not on a handheld. I give it an 8/10. Anyone who is a fan of the genre should check it out if you have a decent rig.

I agree :), the only bummer was the install size, 13 GB is alot but it's not a bad game. Alot of people just don't understand the battle system I guess, but I like it
