The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf First Combat Gameplay

Ripten: "The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf is a console remake of the hit 2007 RPG, The Witcher. On the latest GRTV, CD Projekt Red and Atari debuted the first combat gameplay of the title showing some very cinematic aspects, if you ask me. The camera system is very different in this game for an RPG."

The Witcher will have a lot of competition with Dragon Age Origins. I'm positive im getting the latter but I'm still unsure about The Witcher still.

@lord,

If you want the original, you can get it and play it on the same device you are likely using to browse this page ... unless of course you are doing that from your mobile or PS3.

I own The Witcher on PC. It's one of the best RPG's I've ever played. If they don't fack up the PS3 version and add trophies, I'll buy it.

I don't know if The Witcher will have real competition. Dragon Age may sale more but those of us that own the game already will tell you that with 70 hours of gameplay the first time through, 5 unique endings, an unbelievable combat system, fantastic storyline that ties into the books, and a character that is a badass yet needs to rebuild his abilities - only this time there is a logical reason, The Witcher is tough to beat.

PS3 and 360. The fact is the PS3 was the first console they decided to use.

Really loved The Witcher. Great RPG.

I have a X360 but i think it's a pity they are wasting time porting the game to consoles instead of working on The Witcher 2 :(

They could be doing The Witcher 2 multiplat (PC and consoles).

What's the point in putting the Witcher 2 on consoles if we don't have the original? Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the Witcher really story driven? This isn't a game like the Elder Scrolls where every game is a seperate story.

Edit:

Fallout 3 is not tied storywise to F1+F2 in anyway. F1 is on the west coast. F3 is on the east coast. The only relation between the two is basically super mutants, brotherhood, enclave, and nuclear wasteland. F3 is also a standalone game. The Witcher is story driven, thus requiring all the games for you to fully understand the story. Unless they make the Witcher 2 about a different Witcher there's really no point in bringing it over to consoles unless we get the first one.

I don't think Fallout 1 or 2 came to consoles, but fallout 3 worked quite well on the consoles.

Happened to other games as well

His argument stands on Fallout. While Fallout 3 is a persistant WORLD, it really isn't necessary to know anything else other than a Nuclear War happened and this is where you begin.

The Witcher story, however, is CHARACTER specific...it follows the story of Geralt de Rivia. Jumping into a Witcher 2 game would be like picking up halfway through Andrzej Sapkowski's first novel.

The unique thing about the game are the choices you have to make. You have no idea when you are making a pivotal decision. At the time it may seem like the right thing to do but later there will be consequences.

Save someone that deserves saving and later they will be responsible for the death of a friend. Fail to save them and there will be consequences just as dire. There is no right path or way that does not have some sort of repercussion.

The title is pretty misleading. The video clearly states that what you're seeing is a target render.

All of the combat in the original was mocapped. This included the various fighting styles used by Geralt and hit opponents. You really need to order the European uncensored version. Full decapitation, blood, and nudity.

I don't know how it will work now in terms of control but from the actual combat in this video it looks like the major change is this "cinematic camera mode", so far the moves are the same as the PC version...I wonder if they will make the finishers easier to pull

I hope it does turn out somewhat like this. I loved the cinematic camera for the swift kills. Reminded me of Ass Creed's combat.
