1.2 - this does look great
but i have played a few of these hunt/fish games, and none of them make me feel like im hunting. i mean, sure there is a huge difference between this and the real thing, just like in GHero, but with GHero, I still have fun. Hopefully this game is more fun than the others i have tried.

I don't think there is an MMO to this game. You don't see other hunters while playing or anything...

If you happen to see another hunter it goes into deathmatch mode.

4 - My favorite PC hunting game is still Rocky Mountain Trophy Hunter: II. That game was very realistic for the time it was released.
I might have to check this out, if only to relive some of the memories of hunting virtual game. :)

They can be quite enjoyable, and relaxing. Takes some patience, but routing an animal, strategically placing yourself, and finally going for the kill is all very satisfying.

Great game...though the rate of seeing deer (for me at least) is very low...takes A LOT of patience.

i think this shi+ is wrong, but if it stops people hunting real animals... , i really don't see what sick freak would get pleasure out of watching an animal die, actually shoot a living animal like a deer or a bear and watch it die, just because....

I agree that the idea of shooting a defenseless animal is wrong, but I guess the good thing about this game is that it provides an avenue for people who would most likely go out and do it in real life.

How else do you think people survived before there was fast food? While i don't like that people hunt for fun, so long as they put the meat and skin to good use, it's their choice and they are allowed to do so. My girlfriend's father got 6 deer this past season; he split the meat with the butcher and friends/family who didn't get out to hunt. He also donated the deer skin and antlers to the Longhouse so that nothing was wasted.

I'm guessing both dchalfont and syvergy are vegetarians.
In which case I'd understand your views

But if one of you/both do eat meat then what's your friggin point. Animals must be killed before humans eat them.
That's just nature.

Of course it's morally wrong to make the animal suffer. Thefore, once the animal has been shot, the hunter must make sure to give them a swift death to prevent more suffering of the animal.

I can accept the argument about people hunting for food but I know, you know, a lot of people knows there's many groups out there hunting for sport, and I think that's just sick (no I'm not a veg).

I'm not criticizing the game, on the contrary, I guess it's perfect to be able to leave animals living and do it on your pc, online, with friends, whatever. We know it'll never be like real life, holding a gun and shooting defenseless creatures, but that's how civilization advances, it takes the right practices and try to avoid the bad ones, which is never easy, since the very majority always wants to keep them, but that's how has been done over the centuries and I hope one day this will be seen as it should. (lol sorry the speech, I get overexcited about this)

Don't get me started. People like you infuriate me, you happily run round spouting such rubbish without taking a moment to think how we all exist this day. I can agree with your mindset regarding those who hunt purely for fun, but as someone who hunts myself, I would sooner eat meat coming from animals who have lived a free and natural life than a chicken crammed into a space where it's unable to open up it's full wingspan and force fed so much it can barely walk.

Let's be real for a second here.

Deer population control - We need it.

Deer meat - Huge market...great for the economy.

Hicks - Keeps 'em away from Walmart.

13 - Just a heads up...
When this game says realistic, it means it. I've wandered around for about an hour and the only clue if gotten is "hearing" a deer (a red light came up and told me that, I'm really good at hearing stuff, hehe). I haven't even stepped in any poop yet, which I'm usually really good at. The graphics are incredible, but the only thing that bugs me is there's no control settings, at all; you have to deal with what they give you, which means no inversion :(. I definitely recommend checking it out, as I completely blow at it, so I bet every single other person to try it out will be better than me. Happy Hunting!

14 - Hang-ups
I'm interested from the perspective of game design (environment, AI etc) but have always had this this odd feeling about hunting games. I play so many FPS that I wonder why I should have such hang-ups about hunting games when taking a virtual human life, armed or not, is essentially more questionable than killing a virtual animal that you would in reality be consuming. I doubt if this sort of game is going to lead to virtual wildlife bloodbath - but perhaps players could be advised that they can only tie so many deer to the front of their virtual Jeeps!
Here's a thought, how many chickens have we launched into the air, and ultimately to their doom, in Crysis without giving it a second thought?
