Stargate Worlds Developer Sued

The troubled developer of highly anticipated MMO Stargate Worlds, Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment, has been sued over a financial issue.

The lawsuit was initiated by IO Capital Princess LLC regarding an unpaid open account. This isn't the first time CME has hit the headlines over financial issues, a representative of the company made a statement about their difficulties recently when employees of the CME created a web page with the highly original name DaysSinceCheyenneMountainEmployeesHaveBeenPaid.com. The figure currently stands at 125 days.

Must be heartbreaking to work there...

I mean, usually you have some sort of sympathy for your employers, and seeing things go to bollocks can't be fun...

Wow, I guess we won't see Stargate Worlds out at all then?

It's looking increasingly doubtful.

Wouldn't be the first Stargate game to be canceled.

Oh dear, looks like we'll never see STW. It has a massive following, can't someone just buy it from CME?

ouch, so many setbacks to see that MMO ship. On economical crisis -- that's a for sure chapter 11 to get out of their debts, unless someone buys them or injects capital.

Ugh that sucks. I'm not even overly excited about Stargate Worlds but news like this is never a happy thing.

real shame...

it does make me wonder sometimes.. i mean sometimes these publishers, its like they have no idea what actual gamers are asking for. This sounds and looks like such a cool game, yet publishers will just waste their money on more sequels to games which really don't deserve them.

if you go back to the beginning of this gen, there were quite a few titles that had real promise and sounded new and innovative, yet they were canned and instead with have just had sequel after sequel. some of them have been really good, but quite a few have been a complate waste of money.

great games get scrapped, yet a crap game ( as long as its a sequel or a FPS ) just seems to get all the funding.

sad, very sad.

i would still love to know whats happening with The Outsider. anyone know ?

9 - 125 days since being paid now?!
You've really got to feel sorry for the developers - they've spent years creating a game that many people would love to see released, and yet it's getting increasingly unlikely it will ever see the light of day.

And 4 months since being paid is terrible. What happens if the game is cancelled? There will be NO revenue to pay the developers at all.

Sounds like their (terrible) management staff either underestimated the costs of developing an MMO or are blissfully imagining WoW-like profits when the game is released and driving the team on penny-less until then.

10 - hmm
Employees not getting paid.. why on earth would they still work there then? Don't know where these guys are based but in England, someone does that, you'd get the balifs onto them.
