It's not like blizzard to do something like this... there must be a reason behind their actions?

I don't know, Glynnis (the voice for Kerrigan) has also been hired to do the Diablo I Rogue class voices as well as D2 Rogue npcs.

It's a bit weird...

God... does it even matter?

It really bugs me when fanatics get all up in arms about sh!t like this.... without KNOWING the other side of the story! Maybe both of these old actors tested and weren't very good? Or maybe not as good as they used to be? Or maybe they think they can top what was in the first game? For whatever reason they chose to do this... as far as I'm concerned, it's their game to do whatever they want with. If they fell they've made the right decision, who are we to question them? Do you remember how much fan input there was when Blizzard released the first Starcraft? ....probably none.

If the original actors had been terrible I could understand it... but they weren't. Everyone knows the voices, I don't see why Blizzard changed the actors. But who knows, maybe they didn't want to do it?

Yes, and some argued that voices change over 10 years time. Sure, they do, but listen to that youtube video, and you'll see that it's still the perfect voice.

I find it hard to believe that Blizzard would themselves announce that fans are in uproar over their decision... ;)

But yes, as the news item says, it was made clear about 2 week ago that neither actors would return.

Voice actors often make a game, especially when its a game/franchise as big as this.
For many people they'd associate the voices to the characters, without them might make the game suck :(.
Not for me atleast! all about the game play baby.

I can't see any Starcraft fan refusing to buy the game on the basis of voice acting.

No, that's right. Majority of fans who still want the original actors would still buy the game. Not very surprising.

It was the same with the old Diablo 3 art controversy as well...

There are less people engaged in this "controversy", but I think that's mainly because D3 has more fans in the West.

I got the impression that a majority of players want the older voices back, even if there is a group that don't care. Very few or none liked the Jim Raynor from BlizzCon 2007/2008 anyway

The chance of this being a PR trick to create more hype is very unlikely...

This is grim news. The lines and banter of Raynor, and Kerrigan, was one of the highlights of the first Starcraft, as I played it. I really wanted to see where the story would take these characters, though the RTS game as top of the line too. The actors were great at bringing life, and emotion in to those characters. The game doesn't need any understudies taking the reins when the originals did such a standout job (and, I'm guessing, still could).
I can take or leave Starcraft 2, atm, because RTS isn't really my genre, but it's still disappointing news that a key part of what I enjoyed in SC1 may not be returning, in the same way, for the sequel.

Last I checked, I knew about this MONTHS ago. Sometimes it has nothing to do with want/rejection, but entirely to do with scheduling, guild rules, artistic direction. Actors aren't fired, they may just not fit what the design has, which can be a decision by the performers or the studio. They might have been primadonnas, Blizzard might have found more available talent, who knows. It could be completely down to mutual agreement after performances were slated.

Those who say nay aren't true fans. They just care about multiplayer.
