id Software CEO: Rage Coming in 2009

"When it's done," you're done. Go running back to Duke Nukem Forever. You knew what this was.

While speaking with GameTrailers TV at last month's DICE Summit, id Software CEO Todd Hollenshead gave gamers the signal to look out over the horizon, because Rage is a comin'.

When asked whether his company's latest monosyllabic murder simulator would blow its top in 2010, Hollenshead replied, "No, we'll be out this year."

Good ol' Id. I hope this one works out for them, its a little different than the Wolfestien, Doom and Quake franchises than usual. I have much faith as I loved Doom3.

They're one of the few companies that have yet to disappoint me, so I'm really looking forward to Rage.

If the 360 version is being held back then the PC version is as well you troll, at least do it properly. The PC version is on 2 disks as well.

4.3 - no
they are all going to be the same game. If they decide to limit the number of DVDs, the PS3 is still getting the same version as the PC and 360.

@lord_of_balrogs

Disk limit doesnt matter on PCs, considering EVERYTHING is installed to the hard drive anyway. The game could be on 4 DVDs, and still have all of the same content and textures that the PS3 version does because it would all be installed in the end anyway

yea... The game quality is said to be practically equal on both consoles. The DVD restriction has more to do with M$ charging royalties for the discs that just costs too much. I think iD kind of blew it out of proportion to try to get M$ to reduce the royalties, but iD wasn't very upset about the storage size itself.

6 - people still misinterpreting John Carmack
John Carmack said:"We run the same build on the PC, the 360, and the PS3:This is one source tree and one environment, you build it and it tuns the same on all these platforms.
Offcourse certain things are easier on the 360 than the PS3, but you put the extra effort in where it’s required. You don’t want to minimum common denominator it. The intersection of that is not so great".

People still don't understand how revolutionary the ID Tech 5 Engine is: they've virtualized the textures called "Megatexture" so hardware doesn't make any difference, people still misinterpreting John Carmack and what he actually meant with the 3-disc 2-disc issue and so called storage limit.
The 360/PC version is the exact same version as the PS3 and vice versa just because the ID Tech 5 Engine makes it possible to run huge(uncompressed 300+MB)compressed textures without the necessity of large amounts of RAM(and not because of storage limit/amount of discs etc).
