Rumour: Bioshock Coming to Wii?

Split-screen.com writes: "2K Games has already announced Bioshock 2, the sequel to their critically acclaimed RPG/FPS, in a secret trailer packaged with the PS3 version late last year. A recent job listing on Gamasutra announces the developer's need for a UI (User Interface) Programmer for Bioshock 2. A standard job, for sure. However, not only has 2K Games requested a large number of qualifications for such a typical profession but one line struck us as interesting."

i wouldn't be surprised.. however, a job advertisement doesn't necessary mean their BIGGEST game goes to another platform coz last i checked 2K Games had multiple studios (including R* games which also has multiple studios) so i don't think this necessary goes to the Wii but i wudn't surprised if it did..

I believe they took pride in their hi-def graphics etc.

Hey every Wii owner i would also love for this to come to Wii i really would but ir ealy dont think it will they were sooo proud of their graphics and effects i dont think they would want to down it for wii, soryr but I would be way suprised and happy if they did but i doubt it, also i would rather have them start making Bioshock 2 for Wii rather than Bioshock :)

Graphics Whores can go to hell!

There were plenty of amazing games out prior to this generation, one of my favourite FPS is Quake 3 arena, and it certainly isn't due to graphics!

Bioshock might or might not come out on wii, and if it did it will be at a lower resolution, and toned down graphics, but look at Black on PS2, the that looks stunning, Metroid 3 on Wii has beautiful art direction, Polygon count and resolution isn't the only thing that matters!

Quake 3 Arena for the win! Don't forget Counterstrike 1.6 either.

If they ever released Quake 3 or Counterstrike 1.6 on XBL Arcade then I would quit COD4/Halo 3/Gears 2 for a long time. Maybe forever.

Playing CS:assault (my favorite map) over and over again on my 360 would be pure gaming bliss.

Yeah mate I loved Counterstrike, it so deserves to be released on modern system along with Q3A, although I'm a PS gamer at the moment, so personally I would want it to appear on PSN as well as XBL, hell it could even appear on Wii for download if they sorted out a decent storage capacity!

I still remember all the maps off of Counterstrike (original maps, not obviously all the user created maps!) and of Q3A like the back of my hand! I'll probably remember the maps in COD4 for a long time too! as in my opinion it's the only online multiplayer shooter which has come close to CS and Q3A since there release!

I have been itching recently for a good old school shooter! I don't want a game where I don't have to look for cover, where it's me, my RPG and a S**T load of scum to kill!

They called Bioshock a RPG/FPS. Oh wow, it had two endings... Sorry, it's a straight up FPS with some ability customization. I wish the game had more RPG elements but when you break it down it's just a linear FPS with a great story, nothing terribly innovative like say Mass Effect which is a true RPG/FPS.

I think a side story would be best if there's ANY truth in this invention. A direct port would always get hammered for the graphical shortcomings which some people can't get past these days and that would leave it with little chance. Maybe if they change the artstyle it would work-I'm a great believer that if they try to go more with the look of the DS graphic novel for the Wii version of that game that they'll be barking up the right graphical tree.

I hope they do bring some of Raptures dubious bounty over to the Wii though as it isn't the most impossible game to get pretty near in terms of visuals esp if they don't aim lazily for "the nearest they can get".

At hearing how much graphics make a game. If that is the case why bother with HD consoles, they are sub par compared to PC's. Just like when I hear FF is a series that pushes graphical boundaries..since when? PS2 was the weakest console last gen by quite a margin.

I take rumors with a grain of salt, but one thinig keeps resounding in my head; Take-2:"We just can't ignore Wii's installed base, we just can't"

15 - I didn't realize that wild speculation qualified as a rumor.
This "rumor" is an incredible leap. Actually, "increbible leap" is an understatement. Just because 2K will accept experience developing for the Wii as a qualification, does not mean they are actually developing a game for the Wii. And IF they are developing a game for the Wii, that does not mean they are developing a port of Bioshock.

It's not like the port of Bioshock to the PS3 set any sales records.

This is really just an attempt by a small time website to generate hits based on nothing at all.

I agree mate, someone has probably turned this into something it's not! and it probably isn't happening, the only reason I jumped onto this topic was to respond to the people who claimed it could never happen, and that it would be rubbish if it did just because it wouldn't be as 'pretty'

I keep my Wii for potential gems but this would look pretty bad in comparison how good it looks on the big boys

Personally i thought the game really wasn't all that great and i even saw it through to the end.Huge great looking game with tons of atmosphere that unfortunately couldn't match the cracking first opening hour.It was also a mess of a game regards to glaring flaws resulting in a design of total imbalance

The first Chronicles of Riddick didn't look terrible didn't it. That was on the Xbox. The Wii is a little more powerful than the Xbox. Imagine the stuff they could do with it.

What will be interesting to see is when they start announcing upcoming games for Wii and not old games ported to Wii. Or what happens when they start dropping PS3 development and focus even more on the Wii?

3rd place is not the best place to be if you want developers to be interested in making games for your console. Sure they can make money on PS3 but they can make even more on Wii and if this gen has taught us anything it is that most developers follow the money, not the name on the console.

I have nothing against the Wii, but part of what made Bioshock such a great game was the excellent graphical setting. It would be a disservice to the game if it was ported to the underpowered Wii.
