F.E.A.R. 2, Doctored Comparison Screenshots Debunked

"Warner Bros. Interactive has released some new assets for F.E.A.R. 2 and they're looking pretty good. The only problem is that for some reason they doctored their own screenshots for F.E.A.R 2's benefit.

Now you can yell shenanigans at us for the screenshots, but these are press shots not our own. However, due to this particular circumstance, I thought it would be proper to do a comparison to the screenshot comparison issued to the press. So without further ado, here's a screenshot comparison to the press release screenshots. The first two shots are from the press circuit and the bottom two screenshots are from the actual F.E.A.R. 1 game."

They both have demos released, so you can try them before buying. If you aks me, I'd go for FEAR, since I can't stand the reta... uhm... characteristic controls of RE games... On the other hand I know I will play it sooner or later just because you can kill sh**loads of zombies in there xD

After playing the FEAR2 demo (PC), I'm really not very interested. It's just not "up to snuff" with some other quality PC shooters that I could be investing my time in to. I haven't had a chance to play the RE5 demo, but from what I hear it's "more of the same". If you loved RE4, then you'll probably love RE5.

If I were to choose one at this point, I'd go with RE5. But then again, I'd probably choose neither.

*goes back to Team Fortress 2 + Left 4 Dead (PC versions; of course)*

I played both demos.

Fear 2 I didn't "feel" the shooting was up to snuff.
Resident Evil 5 handle like a last gen game well the controls were a last gen game.

FEAR2 demo didnt have enough stuff/smoke flying on screen when you shoot through concrete unlike FEAR1. Is it because it became multiplat at the same time as PC version?

I played both the PS3 demo and the PC demo. They're the same with all the particle effects. It sucks... i wish it went to PC exclusively first... i bought all the FEAR games too and got rid of Alma... WTF?!

God that games looks really dated, looks so last gen.

Amazing to think how far games have come in terms of looks with gears 2, killzone 2 and RES5

I'm buying them all...
F.E.A.R. 2, Resident Evil 5, Killzone 2, Halo Wars, Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, Street Fighter 4, Star Ocean 4, Ninja Blade, The Lost and Damned, and Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection.
Those are my top ten games of the first half of 2009 in no particular order...

The jump visually isn't very high at all. It's just got some more bloom, blur, and HDR effects. The textures and models for the most part look the same or worse, which is pretty bad considering this came out over 3 years after the original.
