Tomb Raider 1&2 were really good, but since then it's been sh!t to sh!t.
I think Uncharted is a lot better in terms of gameplay, story telling, dialogue, motion... (it's so well done, it's like you're watching a movie), but it's not on the same level in terms of popularity.

Uncharted is better hands down than Tomb Raider. Sorry, but the TR series is dead and the Uncharted games are upcoming and awesome. It's almost like comparing the Indiana Jones movies to the TR movies, no contest... Especially if you ignor the last Indiana movie.

Tomb Raider 1 was good, and it's gone downhill since then. Uncharted is a million times better than Tomb Raider, mainly because Tomb Raider still plays like a last gen game

Tomb raider 1 is probably one of my best games of all time. After 1, meh. But at this moment, sure uncharted is bigger for playstation audience. Nobody talks about lara anymore. But really, I didnt like uncherted neither. To me is an average game. But lately ive been hating almost every game. Whats happening to me

well just check the sales chart the new TR game is a flop in sales on the PS3 when compared to that of Uncharted so I agree Uncharted is more popular among the PS audience...

no-where in the article did ND state that Uncharted is a more popular Franchise...

if it werent for tomb raider this game won't even exist!
i love both but the real classic is the 1st tomb raider....in 1996 the game was more impressive than uncharted in 07 though i god dam love that game!

but... i think uncharted will surpass tomb raider by quality, but by popualarity i don't think so.

Yes there has been tons of TR games. First three were awesome, but then it went downhill. Now there has been only one uncharted game. We can't know if the rest of the series will be any good. But since it's made by NaughtyDog I have high hopes for it...

1.15 - If it wasn't for Indiana Jones, or Pitfall, Tomb Raider wouldn't exist...
...see whut I dun did thurr?

Tomb Raider and Uncharted may be similar in terms of locale, but nothing else.

Tomb Raider is more of a puzzler like continuum with just as many if not more animals than humans.

Uncharted is more of a shooter like Kill.switch with arguably all people.

I think Uncharted really came from nowhere to become a cult hit to PS3 owners.

Sold pretty well, had legs and overall was a fantastic game.

I will say that Tomb Raider never appealed to me. She is hot and all but also not real and nothing worth getting excited about. The series is old and needs to take a break. Uncharted on the other does everything Tomb Raider wishes it could do. I'm surprised Tomb Raider didn't borrow elements from Uncharted in the most recent game.

You have to stop and consider what they are known for. Uncharted is regarded as being, simply put, a great game. The first 2 Tomb Raiders were good, but it was mainly due to Lara's bust that it got, and has continued to get, any attention.

Which would you rather play?

Nathan Drake is a way better hero then Laura Croft.

Nathan has character, he has style... Laura has big boobs. Nathan is witty... Laura has big boobs. Nathan feels like a normal guy, someone real... Laura has big boobs.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I love Laura Croft. :P

Seriously though, Laura Croft is nothing compared to Nathan as far as character development. The only reason Laura Croft was remotely enjoyable was the big boobs, plain and simple.

Lara Croft needs to end her jouney's or follow in Drake's footsteps. Sure Lara's got the looks(body, not graphically) but beyond that shes kinda dull. Sure Drake is not as popular as Lara (yet) But in due time i think we will see his popularity surpass that of Lara as new titles are created. Also Lara kinda has an uper hand consider shes had her ownmotion picture with her role being played by Angelina Jolie.

It would interesting to see how well an Uncharted game would sell if they removed Nathan Drake and put in Lara Croft.

For me Tomb Raider is bigger as a franchise, but Uncharted is much much better as a game. I just wonder how it would be received if they did a mash-up of the two...

The original Uncharted had that Tomb Raider / Indiana Jones feel, but also created a unique 'everyman' character in Nathan Drake.

I actually really liked Tomb Raider Legend, even though Drakes Fortune was much better.

I know but since Tomb Raider went multi-plat years ago, I don't think Lara Croft counts as a PlayStation mascot these days. I think most PS3 owners would agree that Nathan Drake is the new face of action/adventure games.

Lady Lara was always my first female video game character that i had a huge....uhhmmm....crush on(among other things). Seeing her games not age well does sting a little bit but Underworld was really playable even if it did have some issues and was better than most TR games. Uncharted is a great game and im waiting for the sequel....but you know..its not the same without the hooters..

18 - i have to agree with everyone
the first two were the sh!t..but after playing about the nexxt five or six (i lost count), i got bored with it..i got tired of shooting lions, bears and t-rexes (wtf?!?) but uncharted has delivered an adrenaline game..something TR tried to do in its last game (not underworld, but the one before that)...like everyone else says, Uncharted is BIGGER than TR, but it surely is better...maybe if they stuff going to the middle of nowhere and actually give us something to do, not just getting a book, a key, and some ammo

btw, my favorite TR was TR:Chronicles, when she had on that black suit, i had it for the dreamcast

For me Uncharted was better than any of the Tomb Raider games I've played although I haven't bothered with Underworld.

Uncharted is definitely a better game in every aspect but it isn't a bigger or more popular franchise. Tomb Raider has had 2 hollywood movie releases and over the years has had extensive marketing not to mention having been around for 10 years or so. People are familiar with it.

However if you're talking within the Playstation 3 audience he may not be far off but overall TR is a bigger and more popular franchise at this point in time.
