Surviving the Fallout fallout

Gameplayer Writes:
It's everywhere. Hard to see for what it is, almost imperceptible. It's far too easy to internalise it, breathing it in without a thought. Yet if it gets into your system, and becomes a part of who you are, you're done for. You'll sicken and die, and never know why.

I'm talking, of course, about fallout. The fallout from Fallout 3. This is unquestionably the best game of 2008. A triumph. An engrossing world of near-limitless adventure, good for at least three play-throughs, and over 100 hours of immersive, addictive satisfaction.

1 - Not for me
I thought Oblivion was good, but then Mass Effect came along and it applied much of what I prefer about action games (fluid combat, dynamic conversations) to the RPG experience. Fallout 3 feels like a step down for me as it goes back to the slightly older-school take on the genre of Oblivion.

So in the end I cannot give it a best of 2008 award.
