WoW: More Death Knights To Flood Servers

Worldofwar.net is reporting that Blizzard have lifted one of the restrictions on WoW players who wish to make a Death Knight - a class that was introduced in the recent expansion Wrath of the Lich King.

However, the servers are already teaming with Death Knights; Was this a good move by Blizzard?

Doesn't that defeat the point of Deathknights?

Bad move IMO. There are already enough DKs.

Will it make that much of a difference really?

I think it will, yes. If you want to start on a new server not, just make a DK, go do some instances and farm gold for a while, then roll whatever regular class you want and you'll have plenty of money there to help you level.

Been in the patch notes for a long time, though.

True, but I guess Blizz want people to know about it now so they don't go spending money and transferring characters to realms just so they can roll a DK, when they'll be able to do it for free soon.

IMO the "flood" of DKs has been very tame for a new class so far. Occasionally I just /who 80 out of curiosity, and there seem to be about twice as many DKs as other individual classes... in other words DKs are about 2/11 of the population while each other class is 1/11 of the population. It's hardly noticeable really, and I think it will even back out over the next few months as more people decide the DK isn't for them, and as Blizzard smooths out its power level a little more.

I don't think the drop of server restriction on DKs will make that different, except when/if Blizzard opens new servers. When your options are to start a level 1 toon, a level 55 DK, or pay to transfer to a new server, which are most going to go with?

Horrible news. There are way too many as it is but they'll go slowly away when Blizzard changes their leveling. They are overpowered as hell also but that's good thing for people who don't spend ALL their free time on WOW.

8 - Well, on one hand...
...more exorcism fodder for my pally.

Seriously though, they should have made it so you had to convert your EXISTING 55 into a death knight, reset all your stuff, etc. Make it a difficult and irreversible decision.

In short, make people EARN it. Certainly don't make it easier. Has Blizzard been ignoring their forums? This is the opposite of what they should do.

It's supposed to be a HERO class...they are supposed to be somewhat unique. With them running around like ants, they just seem lame.
