IGN Misses the Point With Football Manager 2009 Review, Removes It

According to the story, IGN "posted a review that had nothing to do with the game reviewed, gave it an insanely low score and now, probably in order to "fix" the problem, they have completely removed the review!"

I wondered how IGN USA could give is 2.0 and IGN UK a 9.0? It's not even close so one of them must be wrong. With a game like football manager is obviously for a target audience not a mass market, and should be reviewed with that in mind, otherwise every submarine game ever created would get a 0.1

I did find it pretty strange. I mean, the review pointed some good problems but 2 out of 10!?

How did the review get through the QC process on IGN? That is one hell of a foul up but kudos to IGN for at least admitting it and doing something about it - Gamespot are you watching?

Yeah, it's indeed kinda decent of IGN to do that but the whole thing stinks. As for GameSpot, they aren't even a shadow of their former selves.

3.1 - Agreed mate
The reviewer writing...

“I couldn’t imagine why anybody would prefer Worldwide Soccer Manager to FIFA 09 or Pro Evolution Soccer 2009.”

is priceless!

Lol, definitely.

I mean come on did he not see the word 'manager' in the title?

If he really was that unaware of the game, did he not think to do a little background research on his subject before diving in headfirst and making a fool out of himself.

Simple common sense, if you don't know what you're writing about, it's best to do a little research first to at least try and appear to know what you're talking about.

IGN could help fix their image by getting rid of Hillary Goldstein. He's a cynical, condescending prick

IGN has been doing weird things as of late. A few weeks back they posted a Shaun White comparison for Wii VS 360/PS3 version. totally rip the Wii version apart as complete crap. LAter they give Shaun White Wii the higher review score and then recomend it over the PS3 360 version that they just a week before said was the one to get.
I just thought it was odd to have s complete change of opinion about both versions of the game so soon after doing a comparison..They pretty much said Shaun White for Wii is complete crap but its also the better version... No sense at all to me.
