Diablo 3 Dev Team Does Not Have all Classes and Act 1 Done

Diii.net reports that there has been a misunderstanding growing among the Diablo community since Rob Pardo made a few comments on the game's progress in an interview at WWI 2008, which would imply that Blizzard have all the classes and most of the game ready to play in their office. The rumour has it that a lot of work is done on the game and that Blizzard is just keeping their great game back to spite the fans.

Oh, interesting. I wonder how many people are of the impression that the game is done, and Blizzard is just waiting to release it?

"Spite the fans"? People are getting really paranoid these days...

I think they must be spending so much time doing this... Putting out fires as it were. I mean, people interpret anything they say the way they want it, and lots of fans are very sensitive to webpages overhyping the topic.

Not really pissed on webpages doing it a little bit, but people taking things in without thinking is slightly annoying...

I'd rather they delivered it 100% ready and polished. It'll be worth the wait.

Weird, Blizzard are usually pretty good with releasing stuff after they've finished it.

Blizzard always hangs back on releasing games. If the classes aren't done yet, it'll be months, maybe even a year before we see an alpha.

I don't think that they would have any of this done. When they announced DIII I'd assume that it would be in the same stage as SCII when they announced it. I don't think we will see if for atleast a year.

They have to second guess everything they say. Fans of Blizzard are a rabid lot (I count myself in there) and every crumb of information is scrutinized to see what can be concluded. Lots of reading between the lines. This little gem was misinterpreted by people trying to predict a possible beta/release just after WWI and it was quickly adopted as fact.

11 - Diablo 3
Coming to a store near you on Christmas 2010!

Seriously. Blizzard has been spending so much time taking care of its' cash cow, aka: WoW, that they have neglected their other franchises. It's not like they don't have the money to hire/pay the resources needed to get it done. I don't expect to see much from Blizzard on D3 for a LONG time.

I think you are negative and actually wrong as well. The Diablo team has always been separate from WarCraft/World of WarCraft. The only team that was on WoW originally is the WC3 team, who are currently doing SC2.

I expect we'll see MUCH more of D3 in 2009, as Blizz regretted revealing SC2 too early, I think D3 is further in dev process than SC2 was when they annouced it.
