I wonder if Valve will take notice of this mod team and bring them on board like Valve has done in the past. I want this mod team to get the credit they deserve. So they get bought out they can do many more games like this would be great.

I think they might get hired. The Black Mesa team is taking some creative liberties to prove their worth. Just check the screenshot comparisons in the media section of their site. Not to mention their astounding skill with the Source engine in the first place.

I don't see what all the fuss is over this. We've already had Half-life source which updated the in-game engine and graphics. All I can really see in this is improved character models and environments as well as the -pointless- addition of cinematic bits.

It's not like they've added anything interesting or new to the original game, so I'm hugely unexcited by this - which is surprising as I'm a huge fan of the series.

So, resolutely 'meh'.

Not trying to change your opinion of what you desire, but Half Life Source was a very modest makeover, really only adding some particle effects and making the water look better. This is a remake of the original, and the cinematic events are just for the trailer, its all from the perspective of Gordon Freeman like the original.
