PCGH compared all CoDs available on PC. They compared how weapons, characters and vegetation are looking like in the games and how the visualization changed over the years.

Their screenshots show much the graphics evolved since the original Call of Duty.

kinda funny how cod3 was skipped in the comparison. was that a treyarch engine? i know cod:waw uses 4's engine. but anyway cant wait to see what IW does with cod5.

cod:waw isnt a real numbered game in the franchise anyway. doesnt even have a number. so i guess IW will be releasing cod5 next year

The article clearly states PC, and since COD 3 wasn't on the PC they had to skip it.

And yes during development it was called 5, it is indeed the 5th game in the main series. The next one will be the 6th game but probably won't be numbered since Activision stated they are ditching the numbering system, thats why GH:WT isn't called GH 4: WT.

4 - The engine itself isn't all that great.
But the way it treats particles and lighting gives COD4 and COD5 a very realistic feel. Poly counts and physics basically go to the wayside.

The engine is not impressive to me at all actually. Sure it runs at a smooth framerate, and looks pretty decent, but its all superficial. The physics in this game are non existent. Death Animations , lack of ragdolls, I dont even think the grenades have physics applied to them.

Cod WaW fixed Cod4's most annoying problems (to me). It finally has moving grass and clouds, not to mention the water interaction.

Its pretty good stuff. U guys are tough critics, but I havent seen too many games that top the framerate vs graphic quality.

dunno about you guys but i think COD4 looks brilliant.
okay so it might not have the detail you see in some other games but the use of colour,smooth frame rate are all pretty good.Even with 18 player everything stays the same.Not to mention COD4 is one of the only shooters that i can play comfortably with players from around the world.2 bars is enough for me :)

I still think COD1 looks good, still my all time favorite, that game got me into PC's and MP gaming, I haven't had more fun in a MP than S&D on Brecourt playing as the Yanks, and winning against all the odds :)
