Nancy Drew Outsells Far Cry 2 in October PC Sales

October was a big month for PC gamers because, unlike previous months where Blizzard and Maxis have owned the charts, there were several high profile PC-centric games releasing, including Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, and Crysis: Warhead.

Well, the NPD Group has released the monthly figures for PC titles, and it contains a couple surprises.

Not really surprising actually, PC sales has always been like this. Even when Spore was released, Nancy Drew was right on Spore's tail in sales.

Probably because Far Cry 2 SUCKS. Well, that is my opinion of it anyway. Wish I never wasted my money on it.

But games like Nancy Drew always sell MILLIONS of copies on the PC.

I was really disappointed in Far Cry 2 though. I guess I got on the hype train and about half way through it got derailed. It wasn't exactly what the reviews made it out to be. I guess its just another case of hype influencing scores.

It was a great technical achievment and the missions were fun (before they became repetitive), but the world was just annoying.

wow now thats baffling....i still like the first farcry(it had a story to it) way better.....farcry 2 is going to a bunch of huts back and forth and runing into a city here and there...with a storyline of find and kill the jackal...great graphics though

Farcry 2 was an appallingly dull, repetitive and unrewarding game. I think most PC gamers had the ability to try before they buy and chose not to buy it because it was a god awful game.

yes that was my point people can try before they buy and I am betting a lot of people tried farcry 2 and it didn't meet with their approval. You just need to see the fact that Fallout 3 is beating it sales wise and that was available on torrents as well. So you have to ask yourself why is fallout 3 selling better than farcry 2 then, if they are both available for pirating ? The answer is simple people are trying fallout 3 enjoying it and buying it whereas people are trying farcry 2 seeing it's crap and not buying it.

Yeah PC gaming is dead when Fallout 3 a vastly superior game to Farcry 2 is number 1. Most people seem to be in agreement that farcry 2 is a very very bad game. I am actually amazed it's at number 4 I would expect a title with such dubious quality to be much lower in the charts.

Nobody in their right mind would buy Farcry 2 for PC. Pirates love cracking DRM heavy games and Farcry 2 is one the smart gamers can easily have for free. Let the suckers pay $60 to buy this crap game on the console.

Kind of like Crysis. It got pirated more then it was bought. PC gamers are going to get screwed in the future. Developers and publishers will just notice, most PC gamers just bootleg their games. So they will just stop making games for the PC. Its pretty obvious. I guess I wouldn't have money either, if I had to keep upgrading my pc every month to play the current games that are out their. Oh, well.

PC gaming sales figures are almost always off because most of the time Digital Distribution sales are not all added to the final figures. And I think that I can make a pretty accurate assumption that most of the people who buy Nancy Drew games buy their games in a box in-store, while PC gamers into Far Cry buy from Steam-like online stores. I did.
